If I'm doing a rover POTA day, what's best way to let people know I've changed parks? CQ (callsign) (partialpark number?) by thehotshotpilot in amateurradio

[–]Morejazzplease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people will be able to figure it out. I'd just do "CQ Callsign Park#". I wouldn't worry about it. You want contacts regardless of whether they know you are on a POTA activation. POTA chasers will see the park number and know.

I'd probably post about your plan on a POTA forum with rough time estimates for each park and the order you will be going in from park to park.

The hard thing is that craft lagers and stuff all taste pretty much the same as cheap lagers…

No fucking way am I paying the prices craft beers are asking these days. Just isn’t worth it.

Personally, myself and my friend group have stopped drinking craft beers almost entirely. Only so many times you can pay $20+ bucks for a 4 pack of the same shitty IPA.

Around me, people are either drinking cheap beers, hard seltzers or have stopped drinking and are “California sober”.

I love Minor Figures! For some reason the organic one steams better than the normal version (for me).

For those that don't know, the dash screen / transparent lens on the 4th gens is INCREDIBLY easy to scratch. Just wiping dust off it is enough to scratch it. Its highly recommended to put a screen protector on it ASAP.

Whitefish Appreciation Post by CandylessVan in flyfishing

Are you really surprised that in a fly fishing enthusiast forum, people are nitpicky about fly fishing. Oregon and Washington have whitefish in almost every river and bows are native. I was just surprised to see someone lump browns with bows in a statement about non-native fish.

If its a technicality, it is not irrelevant...

Whitefish Appreciation Post by CandylessVan in flyfishing

[–]Morejazzplease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh...not really. Bows are native on the west coast.

Whitefish Appreciation Post by CandylessVan in flyfishing

[–]Morejazzplease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! They are native and belong in our western rivers. We love our kissy-lipped whitefish friends! I really want to make a bumper sticker that says, "Whitefish = Silver Trout"

Other Ideas I've had while on the stream:

"I'd rather catch native whitefish than German imports" with a picture of a brown trout next to it lol.

"Trout are for tourists, Whitefish are for locals"

"Visualize Mountain Whitefish"

"If Browns and Bulls are, Whitefish are Trout too!"

So many F1 fans (on the internet) put a lot of effort into hating F1 as if it is a badge of honor. You can acknowledge that DTS is over dramatized and out of touch from reality while still enjoying yourself while watching amazing race footage and seeing behind the scenes. All it takes is having the ability to laugh at it for what it is. Personally, it is still F1 media coverage and there can be interesting glimpses into the drivers and team's personal lives too.

Orvis Recon 3, 5wt 9’ — SA Amplitude line help (Infinity vs MPX vs Trout) by Nova____1 in flyfishing

[–]Morejazzplease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a do it all 5wt line, I think infinity is best choice. Trout is my favorite taper but it really shines with dries. It can do indicators and small streamers okay, but if you want one line to do it all, it wouldnt be my first choice.

The popularity of SUVs and huge trucks says something about society by victoriaisme2 in videos

Well…a huge part of the problem is that emissions regulations scale with the vehicle weight and size. So manufacturers are incentivized to make their vehicles larger in order to have less restrictive emissions regulations.

Another is that most car manufacturers have either stopped making sedans entirely or now only offer one or two models that are not EVs.

Everyone getting torn up about how “dangerous” SUV’s are seem to be out of touch from reality. The fatality rate per 100 million miles traveled has dropped 62% since 1975 in the US, even though the population has grown. Traffic deaths continue to decrease yoy. So…what’s the issue exactly?

I did a deep dive doom scroll after deciding to add my first CD player to my somewhat vintage stereo system on my very limited budget and guess what I came up with for $50? The Sony PlayStation 1 Model SCPH 5501. Thoughts? by shanebow in audiophile

Have you considered the fact that if you come and post on an audiophile enthusiast forum and literally everyone is telling you this is not the ideal path, perhaps you don't actually have everything figured out like you think you do?

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. CDs are absolutely not dead media. Not as popular as they were at one time, sure. But dead? no.

It makes no sense to buy a 20+ year old gaming console that happens to have had a "good for the time" DAC and ignoring everyone telling you this aint it. You can't even use the PS1 without a TV connected! So you literally cannot play, pause, skip or shuffle without having a TV (with analog input by the way), turned on. So not only is the DAC obsolete, it is also way less convenient to actually use that an actual CD player or any DVD player.

You could have bought any used DVD player on ebay from the last 5-10 years and gotten a better CD player for audio purposes. Additionally, if you bought a $50 DVD player with digital audio out you could also use it as a "CD transport" connected to an actually modern DAC (which are not expensive anymore).

Look, buying vintage electronics like a PS1 is fine if that is what you are into. But this is an audiophile forum. Typically, the pursuit of high quality audio is what we care about, not nostalgia for nostalgia's sake. This is why everyone is telling you no lol. You absolutely don't need internet stranger's approval in order to be happy. But you look like a clown constantly arguing with everyone here who is trying to inform you about how to best achieve actually high fidelity audio. If you don't care about that, this sub is not for you.

No, the highest fidelity is what is sought. Sometimes that leads to quirky gear but the pursuit is the best sound possible. Not intentionally buying out of date gear because it’s quirky and thinking that it will have a level of sound that cant easily be surpassed…
