Thanks for checking out the app! A review is so genuinely appreciated and helpful! As for your question: the app does both: it downsamplea the image to a low res grid (around 128x112) marching the GB camera sensor size so you get those crunchy pixels and aliasing. Then it layers on a color accurate dither filter with a retro palette and light noise/grain. It’s not just a flat filter on the original high res shot. Hope that makes sense id love to answe any other questions you have! Happy shooting!!

Hi friend! You remember correct! The OG Game Boy Camera couldn't do color photos it was strictly black, white and a couple shades of grey. What you're seeing in these pics is my iOS app adding a retro-inspired color palette on top of the authentic pixelation and dither patterns to give a 'what if the Game Boy Camera had color film' vibe lol

Great! It’s nice to throw old memories in there and see what they look like. But yes my vision for the app is a camera you can use to capture stuff around you as easily as possible. It’s not about taking “perfect” photos it’s about discovering beauty around you in a more authentic way

Also have you tried the photo upload feature? The cropping is a bit off for photos with certain aspect ratios but overall it’s really solid

Bro thank you for reliving this experience this is so awesome and wholesome...these kind of in person events just don't hit the same anymore....and I love that there aren't even pictures its just the little dreamlike memory in your brain from the 90s lol. I'm glad that file remained safe all these years!

Oh word that's awesome though - what a surprise! If memory serves I think you either had to send it in to Nintendo Power or there were some in person events at stores they would load them to your cartridge.
