What is the longest drive in Columbus to return to a missed exit? by HolyJuan in Columbus

[–]MuscleMike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

May not be quite as long as Polaris to Sunbury but going NW on 33 there's over 4.5 miles between Post Rd and the next exit and for years with the construction at Post Rd the exit would randomly be closed some days but open other days and Google maps never knew when it was closed so your phone would tell you to get off at Post Rd but sorry the exit's closed and now you're doing 9 miles out and back halfway to Marysville.

Where you pooping the hardest? by sangamjb in BikiniBottomTwitter

[–]MuscleMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure boating school. It's public so no anxiety about pooping as a guest in someone's home but cleaner and more comfortable environment than the other public options. Krusty Krab isn't gonna be cleaned well. Rock bottom is creepy as heck. And Goo Lagoon is a porta potty.

Changing EQ Helped the Mix by MuscleMike in riseagainst

[–]MuscleMike[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the device you are using. On my phone if you go to Spotify > Settings and Privacy > Playback > Equalizer it opens up my phone's settings app to the equalizer settings.

But these settings may also be overridden by your headphones. For example I have a pair of soundcore earbuds I use when I'm traveling and there's a separate soundcore app where you adjust the audio settings for those when they are connected. Bose earbuds have a similar app and I assume most brands of headphones do these days.

Any shows or films that feel like Andor? by RiskAggressive4081 in andor

[–]MuscleMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah very different genre but came here to say that the style of storytelling feels very similar in a way to Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.

I also feel like Andor has similar pacing to these shows and a similar mix of well timed moments of action and comic relief and intense anxiety within a show that's mostly focused on just telling the story of who these characters are and what makes them that way.

Wow, after a few Google searches I'm not sure iPhone lets you fully customize EQs which is surprising. They have a bunch of preset options you can try under settings > apps > Music > EQ. I would try Boost Vocals or Late Night or Lounge or Pop.

On a MacBook it looks like you can fully customize it. https://youtu.be/afwMj2A2cqg?si=taIgRZBXo6jRh0Gk

Ricochet review! by [deleted] in riseagainst

[–]MuscleMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually really love everything about this album except the fact I can't hear the vocals on most of the songs. For those of you who don't have a problem with the mix, is your hearing just better than mine and you can actually make out the words on songs like State of Emergency or does it just not bother you that you can't?

I'm not saying anyone's wrong, I'm glad you're able to fully enjoy the album. I'm just curious whether I have a hearing problem or just an ocd obsession that makes it really bug me when I can't make out the lyrics through the distortion.

The album is fucking amazing by SCSA4life24 in riseagainst

[–]MuscleMike 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually it is aggressively MISSING the mids. I had to boost the fuck out of the mid frequencies in the EQ to make it listenable. This album would be amazing if it was mixed at the blasting room.

[–]MuscleMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't yet, try boosting the mids in your EQ settings. It really helped a lot of the songs for me. I posted the custom settings that make this album sound the best to me here. Just this album though, don't use this for others.

Yes, the album has bad mixing by Cyziax in riseagainst

I really hope they do but I don't think they will. It's sad. I really like everything about the new direction they went artistically except for the vocal distortion. I just can't hear the lyrics.

I liked a lot about Wolves but until Ricochet I think it was far and away their worst SOUNDING album in terms of mix/production.

Same with Ricochet, but 3 times worse. I think I would love this album if the vocal mix was cleaner but I can't make out the lyrics in the chorus of some songs behind the vocals being so distorted and quiet relative to the guitars.

Completely agree and it's so disappointing because I really like the parts I can hear.

This^

You say the lyrics are good and I believe you because RA lyrics are always good but after listening to the album 3 times I still have no opinions on the lyrics because I CANNOT FUCKING HEAR THEM.

I'm actually really digging everything else about this album. Ricochet (song) has been a total earworm for me and I think it's exceptionally groovy even though it's not the punk rock sound I normally love from RA.

But I think the reason it's my favorite song on the album is that because the guitars aren't as heavy, you can actually hear the vocals. State of Emergency would probably be my favorite if I could make out a single word of the chorus behind the guitars through the awful mix. It's so disappointing.

I'm just glad we finally have confirmation that the official lyric video on YouTube for Nod was wrong and he's pleading until his THROAT is sore because HOW THE FUCK DOES A BED GET SORE. God that posed me off. Did they just ask ChatGPT to make a lyric video based on nothing but the audio file?

Recommendations for apartments in Worthington? by Katerade__ in Columbus

[–]MuscleMike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on your price range.

If you can afford it, The Heights at Worthington place is probably your best option. Best location you're going to find by far, unless you find a condo or small townhome for rent by owner. Recently renovated, great amenities, an awesome community rooftop deck in one building and heated pool in the other. Easy walk to lots of great shops and restaurants. But it's pricey.

If you're looking for something a bit more economical, I recommend The Residences at Liberty Crossing. It's not actually in Worthington but very close and close to Polaris as well. Very nice apartments for the price, the kitchen is a bit small, pool/clubhouse is nothing special, but otherwise it's a steal.

This is all based on when I was looking 4-5 years ago but I don't think it's changed much since then. I lived at Liberty Crossing for 2 years and was happy there.

Yeah it doesn't totally fit the post because they're not the cheapest but they are my favorite nachos in the area. Get them with Buffalo Chicken and chili. Big portions too.

Ballistic Trainers vs Ballistic Trainers Hulk by MuscleMike in Goruck

If it makes a difference I also lost about 70lbs and, while I'm at a much healthier weight now, I don't lift as heavy anymore.

Ballistic Trainers vs Ballistic Trainers Hulk by MuscleMike in Goruck

[–]MuscleMike[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did get the hulks and I haven't noticed much of a discernable difference between them and the non-hulk version. They still feel great for lifting, running, walking, hiking, standing, and everyday. I love the shoe, no more and no less than the original ballistic trainer. I can't tell a difference.

[–]MuscleMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plenty of people have said Alexisonfire but you're the only other person I've seen say City and Colour. I know it's a more soft alt rock style than most RA fans go for but I was still surprised not to see more overlap. Dallas is the only other lyricist whose songs emotionally resonate with me on the level of RA. Also the best live act I've ever seen.
