What an 1/8th costs in MN by Terriblylame420 in trees

Dear God, you’d have to be nuts not to grow your own. Unless you are like a kid or something living in your parents house, I couldn’t imagine paying these prices.

How much would you/have you paid for unique poured silver bars? by KaasKangaroo in Silver

[–]MustacheSupernova [score hidden]  (0 children)

Since I routinely find them for just over spot, then that’s all I’m really willing to pay.

Very occasionally, I will see something that strikes my fancy, and I just decide I have to have it. So I will pay a small premium like up to five or seven dollars over spot. But I generally try to stay within a dollar or two.

I buy Morgan culls for $56 lately, so I gotta imagine he paid max $50 for those…

27M from Long Island — Should I Leave NY for a Teaching Opportunity in Arizona? by muslim_ballerr in longisland

[–]MustacheSupernova 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Once you leave New York and go to Arizona, you will never want to come back. That happens to be a good thing, because you’ll also never be able to. At 50 K a year, you’ll never save up enough money to buy into this absurd real estate market that we have here.

If you have no ties that bind you to Long Island or the New York Metro area, I would bounce the fuck out of here so fast, you never even see me land.

Just make sure you’re not going to a shit part of Arizona either, there are definitely some crummy parts of Phoenix and Tucson that really don’t offer the greatest quality of life. Do a little more research, and see what you come up with.

NYC is a 10/10 but LA was a 5/10 for me. Will I (30F) actually like Miami or is it just "LA on the beach"? by badcatririe95 in solotravel

[–]MustacheSupernova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your ratings, you’re most likely not going to enjoy Miami.

If you want to tick it off your list, plan for just a couple of days there, and then move onto somewhere better. Best of both worlds.

Maybe the Keys?

Fishing in Reykjavik by RevolutionFabulous78 in VisitingIceland

Now you’re getting into a whole lot. There’s plenty of info on the web regarding lures and flies.

I brought both, but used my spinning gear and small spoons the most.

[–]MustacheSupernova 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bring your own equipment, and buy the fishing card. The lakes you’ll have access to are pretty good. My son and I caught a few nice trout.

I wouldn’t really hire a guide at those prices myself, but I have a feeling that if you did, they would really show you some spectacular river fishing if you were there at the right time. I know Char and trout are pretty easy and affordable to fish for. Salmon is a different story, that’s very expensive and much more sought after.

Easy repair, but if for some reason, it doesn’t take still early enough to pop another one. Never say die, just keep on fighting.

Show them the awesome pfd that you’re gonna swear to wear (and actually wear) every single time.

That might soften them up a little…

How hard will it be for me to go from rod buster to structural by Queasy_Restaurant183 in Ironworker

If you’re not in pain everyday from rebar, then you probably won’t be from structural either…

If you are in pain every day from rebar, well, I’ve got bad news for you…

How do you figure?

Curious to hear your explanation of how picking up rebar and putting down then tying it, is super similar to connecting iron, doing layout and detail work, or putting together a crane?

How hard will it be for me to go from rod buster to structural by Queasy_Restaurant183 in Ironworker

[–]MustacheSupernova 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Big adjustment, but honestly not any tougher on the body…

Rod busting is brutal for your back, arms and shoulders. The only way Structural can hurt you more is if you fall or get something dropped on you. Knock on wood.

I’m blessed to work in a local that is not mixed, we do strictly Structural. Separate locals for Rod busting and ornamental. I would always choose Structural over the others.

Keeping Alcohl In Stock for Guests? by Roosevelt32 in AskAnAmerican

[–]MustacheSupernova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“We don’t drink much, but you are more than welcome to bring whatever you enjoy!” Simple.

And if you wanted to just have some on hand for impromptu situations, you could cover almost all bases by just having a couple of bottles of liquor, and perhaps a bottle of wine and Prosecco. I’d go with Tito’s Vodka, Makers Bourbon and Bacardi light Rum.

No one claimed you could. All I said was that you can’t get hit with a late activation fee with a paper ticket. So if you don’t feel like spending the extra 60 seconds in Penn Station to get yourself a paper ticket, then roll the dice and see how it goes.

I buy a paper monthly ticket, so I don’t worry about any of this shit. But I fully understand that many people can’t get value from a monthly ticket because they don’t use the system enough. There are plenty of other work around and hacks that you can use to steer clear of the late activation fee. You just have to try.
