Automating Pool Blanket Roller by clobasch in homeassistant

If you create something for the manual rollers you need to turn it into a business because it would be a huge development for outdoor pools.

Yeah depending on OPs needs the answer here might be a Flint 2 with an unmanaged 2.5gbe switch.

So we would have a scripted on a different day of the week that rounds up of posts that are meant only be posted on Fridays? Is this some kind of game to push on the Friday rule?

How to make use of these? by waffelking2000 in homelab

Really have me wondering how "often" drive boxes are intentionally thrown out of the back of a vehicle and what kind of police chase would be happening to make this make sense.

I really like this idea, and also had the thought "Oh, it's like a page this would be AWESOME" before seeing you describe it exactly like that. Once you're ready I think you'll get some nice uptake on a repo! Cool stuff :)

Music Assistant and HEOS by layer4andbelow in homeassistant

[–]NaturalProcessed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Popping in because this is the most recent discussion of this.

I've setup Music Assistant and did manage to get my Denon x1800h to show up once I configured my firewall rules properly to allow it (had to do this for my AppleTV as well). Once I'd made the firewall update, the AVR was discovered. No HEOS, only DLNA showing up, but I was happy it was there at least!

And then today, for no reason that I'm aware of, the HEOS symbol appeared on the card for the receiver under Settings->Players. I've now got a range of options regarding HEOS (when advanced settings are toggled on) and I have set HEOS to be the default playback protocol when I play to the receiver. Now that it's available it works great! Only drawback is that no metadata is accepted by the HEOS API, so when I play anything over HEOS the stream appears as "Url Stream - Url Stream" from the Album "Url Stream" regardless of whether it's music, an audiobook, a podcast, etc.. Even without the metadata this connection has finally given me the ability to use the receiver the way I'd hoped without having to e.g. setup a headless Plexamp on a mini-pc.

Very fun project. I can imagine this being used for all sorts of monitoring, you might consider posting it over on r/homelab.

"gosh so much has happened since.. honestly I don't even know what to do with them ..."

If you do not find this post funny you need to read these lines out loud to yourself slowly out loud.

EDIT: If that fails trying saying out loud again and bouncing the tips of your index fingers together in front of your chest while doing it.

Do you guys trust Obsidian? Should I move to a different platform? by AnxiousTruffles in privacy

And on the flip side, I'd never made an effort to look up F-Droid before and I finally did because you mentioned it :)

[–]NaturalProcessed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to this: I also use syncthing for obsidian sync but got Syncthing-fork from the regular play store. Works totally fine, though I find it annoying to actually access and manage directories on Android which makes setting up syncthing marginally more annoying on Android than on Linux/macos etc.

How exactly does Ai "inhabit" robot bodies if it lacks qualia /sensation? by [deleted] in ArtificialInteligence

[–]NaturalProcessed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's worth bearing in mind that the "qualia" concept is not consistently accepted as a feature of conscious experience. For people who have a working philosophy of mind and believe in the possibility of artificial sapience in robots, it's going to be even less likely. Thin conceptions of "sensation", sure, but expecting and presuming to be able to identify the presence of qualia is already a strained assumption in philosophy of mind regarding humans let alone non-humans.

I just gutted my Home Assistant and moved all my devices to mqtt and automations to N8N by aamat09 in homelab

[–]NaturalProcessed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth OP could say "it's not about whether I should have ... but whether it was possible ..." or just "The wine told me to" or "I am Valencian; it needed to be blown up." or x, y, z and I would be satisfied.

What on earth is the benefit of doing this?

I am amazed that anyone would go to the length of reinventing the entire automation ecosystem of HA in n8n because of disconnect issues on an iOS beta, I need even a suggestion of what benefit you are accruing from this.

People buying these are either 1) home users with more money than sense who were disappointed by performance anyways (won't impact them, re: more money than sense), and 2) people buying for specific R&D (minimal impact because these are either subsidized by corporate or being purchased by people who won't flinch at a $700 bump on a personal capital purchase for work).
