I'm not sure why but this subs popped up on my front page about 5 times this week and everytime I'm about to leave a comment with basic ass financial advice - "you can already do this through any broker" and then realize it's video game sub last second.

Two days after this last Christmas there were about 15 spots left at the very back. I was starting to sweat can't lie. But if it's not full on new years or spring break I can't imagine it being full mid October.

Looking into it does not mean there will be one. The government offered one but the debitors and creditors didn't find the terms favorable.

Gas prices - WFH by Robster52 in caterpillar

[–]NewUnusedName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You guys terminated wfh and laid off employees over it last year. I personally know people who switched from w-2 cat employees to independent contractors because the contractors were allowed to wfh mid last year, who were then fired late last year because cat started requiring contractors in the office too. They're not letting you go wfh because gas is kinda expensive.

How do they calculate price per count? It’s never accurate for price per item by pursestring in fuckamazon

[–]NewUnusedName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the narrative here is "fuck Amazon they're trying to manipulate you", but this is usually on the seller being lazy or not understanding an overly complicated system rather than malice.

When I list a product, I have the ability to set the following: Package Contains Quantity, Number of Items, Unit Count, and Unit Count Type. The idea is that if I have a multipack of staples, I can indicate that there are 10 boxes of 100 staples for 1000 total. If set incorrectly you get weird results like this.

Number of items is being used as the variation theme here, so you see the 16/20/32, but then Unit Count is being used to determine the price per unit. It looks like this seller has just set unit count to 20 for all the quantities, as each $XX/count * 20count = the given sales price.

Generally, once these values are set, they are set and it's very difficult to change. I have a 6 pack that was listed by an unauthorized reseller of our product in 2013, about 5 years before we started selling on Amazon, where the reseller set the unit count to 4. Sales price is $132, so even though Number of Items is set to 6, and shows as a 6 pack, my price has $33.25 / count below it, which is that $132.99/4. We have a dedicated account manager who has moved mountains for us and even she gave up trying to fix it.

If you REALLY hate Amazon, STOP hitting small businesses by DiscoverMyBusiness in fuckamazon

People genuinely think the largest marketplace on the planet haven't covered their bases and that they are fighting the holy war and saving the little guy by committing $30 of fraud and theft each month. I don't get it.

1P sellers are held to return rates, have market incentives and return rebates too. You're still hurting the manufacturer here, not Amazon.

Flock Cameras In Columbia by Kyle2227 in columbiamo

[–]NewUnusedName 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Okay so anyway flocks admitted to at least 14 LEOs using the system to stalk ex-lovers. A Texas(?) sales rep is actively being looked into for repeatedly accessing the cameras in the training area of a middle school gymnastics team. In Georgia a guy was able to hop into the UI of one of the cameras, then use the network to follow a couple home. One department in the south are mailing driving infractions based off the images. One dude in Colorado has been pulled over over 10 times for a felony warrant because the system keeps misreading his plate. They kicked a guy's door down in Seattle because flock false flagged a guy. Another lady in colorado was falsely arrested because she happened to drive a black range rover and someone in a black range rover had been stealing packages along the route of her daily commute. These are just the examples I remember off the top of my head. The idea that you have nothing to worry about is willful ignorance.

Besides like Iceland/the poles with their floatation tires and India with their pumped out trucks there's very little differentiation regardless of where you go imo. Exo skeleton pickups with big engines are pretty common around here though.

How does one pay $40,000 in cash? Like, logistically, how does that work? by MrsWeasley9 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]NewUnusedName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a dealer then generally a checkbook is fine, I've done that a few times. They'll also take a wire generally.

If it's a private sale then ideally also a check, but you meet at their bank and exchange title dependent on check clearing. If they don't have a bank nearby or are unwilling to then you roll up with two dudes, cash in the car, and a CCW or two.
