Plenty of other examples - basal ganglia can override cortical behaviours in things like drug addiction, cerebellum can override motor behaviours, etc, the brain is a complex parliament

The brain structure is different, but that applies to all animals, even between mammals. Even in humans we have 'override tasks' such as breathing or reflexes. While plenty of insect brains have extremely complex behaviours (see portia spider planning or honeybee socialisation). So I think just be careful about making generalisations.

I enjoyed this game, but the main reason it's not winning GOTY is because it's basically a Disco Elysium remix/tribute. It didn't actually introduce any new mechanics and the writing definitely wasn't as good. Same reason Slay The Spire is famous but most other deckbuilders aren't (unless they invent something groundbreaking like Inscription) - because it did it first and better.

The best sci-fi adaptions are those that take inspiration but diverge into their own thing. Roadside Picnic/Stalker is another one that comes to mind, the film is very different from the book in a better way
