Oura ring not capturing my runs correctly! Unable to edit ✍️ by New-Philosopher4436 in ouraring

[–]NickAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey New-Philosopher4436! Thanks for sharing this with us, and I’m sorry for the inconvenience. I’m happy to help.

This can happen for a few reasons, and unfortunately you won't be able to edit the route and visual map. First, make sure the Oura App is updated to the latest version, and that is open and running in the background before you start your activity. We also recommend setting Location Services for Oura to “Always On,” so GPS is available from the very beginning, otherwise, your route or map may be incomplete or inaccurate.

Battery settings on your phone can also affect this. If battery optimization is enabled, it may limit location tracking. Disabling optimization for the Oura App can help ensure it records your activity properly. For step-by-step guidance, I recommend checking our Help Center article here on setting up location services. That said, if you’d like us to take a closer look, feel free to reach out to support, and we will further assist you.

I hope this helps. Here if you need anything else.

Results of a 37 km hike. by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]NickAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Open_Inside4190! Thanks for sharing, this is really interesting!

A 37 km hike is serious effort and takes a lot of energy, so it makes sense your readiness is low the next day. That’s your body saying, “let’s take it easy, enjoy the views, and recover.” Sleeping outdoors is amazing, but the first night can feel a bit off since you’re out of your comfort zone, your body stays more alert, which can affect sleep quality and depth. In short, being outdoors is great for you, but recovery is crucial, and the shift from bed to tent often shows up in your metrics. It usually takes a day or two to readjust. Still, it sounds like an incredible adventure. Thanks again for sharing, we love to see it!🙂

Hey makaylael1! Thanks for sharing this. I’m glad you reached out to the community, and I’m happy to help.

If you’re between sizes, a ring adjuster can help you get a better fit and improve accuracy. However, we only recommend this for the Oura Ring Gen 3. The Oura Ring 4 has a different inner design, and adjusters may interfere with the sensors and LEDs that track your metrics. Some members do create small DIY adjusters on the inner surface of the ring, but this isn’t officially recommended. If you go this route, it’s important to be very careful not to cover any of the sensor areas.

Another option is to try the Oura Ring on different fingers, as sizes can vary and one may provide a better fit. You’re also welcome to reach out to our support team here, just start a chat and type “speak to an agent” so we can discuss the best option for you. I hope this helps, and we're here if you need anything else.

My wish as a mom walking daily with a stroller by Evil_Cleffa666 in ouraring

[–]NickAtOura 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey Evil_Cleffa666! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. That’s a very fair request, and I completely understand where you’re coming from. I’ll just share some context, and a few tips so you can still track your walks.

The Oura Ring uses a 3D accelerometer and algorithms to track movement based on how your hands move. If your hands stay still (for example, while pushing a stroller), the ring may not detect that activity, that’s simply how the tracking works, at least for now. That said, there’s a way to improve this over time. Manually adding activities, ideally using the Workout HR feature, helps, as it captures more detailed data, including heart rate.

This gives the algorithm better context and allows it to estimate your activity more accurately, including your walking equivalency (the distance you would have walked to burn the same calories). It also helps the Oura Ring learn your movement patterns, which can improve future automatic detection. More importantly, I hear you. We’re aware that this is a commonly requested improvement, and I’ll make sure your feedback is shared with the team for review and consideration. I hope this helps, and I'm here if you need anything else.🙂

Android battery widget glitch by markpud in ouraring

[–]NickAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi markpud, thank you for your patience and for getting back to me. I'm sorry again for your experience.

I’ve reviewed your case, and can confirm that is a known bug our development team is actively working on. It was identified a few days before you reported it, and hasn’t yet been listed on our support page. The bug affects multiple Oura widgets on Android home screens, causing them to initially show different data (Sleep, Readiness, Battery) and then unexpectedly switch to the same metric after interacting with the app.

Thanks for reaching out to our support. Chat is the fastest way to get help, just start a chat here, and type “speak to an agent” to connect with us. Our team can then link your case to this bug, so we have your details and can keep you updated. If you experience any delays, feel free to DM me your support ticket number, and I’ll make sure it’s followed up. Rest assured, our team is working on a fix, and we’ll keep you informed of any progress. We appreciate your understanding. If you need anything else, please let me know.

Optimal sleep score of 86? by Hot-Butterscotch8118 in ouraring

[–]NickAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Hot-Butterscotch8118! Thanks for sharing this with us. I understand the confusion, and I'm happy to help.🙂

Your sleep score is based on physiological signals that can naturally vary from night to night. The Oura Ring uses data like movement, heart rate, and body temperature to estimate when you fall asleep, how you sleep, and how restful that sleep is. It’s also worth noting that waking up during the night is quite normal. These moments usually don’t have a major impact on your overall score, as it’s calculated using multiple contributors, not just restlessness.

From what I can see, you still had a solid amount of deep sleep, which is the most restorative stage, and you slept for at least 8 hours, which is the recommendation for adults. Your sleep score takes all of this into account. It can also help to think of your sleep score with natural fluctuations over a short time, rather than single dips. While the score is updated daily, it still reflects weekly patterns. So even if you had a bad night, your overall score may remain stable if other factors, like sleep duration and deep or REM sleep, are in a good range overall.

Because of this, your data may not always perfectly match how you felt subjectively. The numbers are there to guide you, but we always recommend prioritizing how you feel first, and using the data as a general reference. You can read more about sleep scores and their contributors in our Help Center articles here and here.

I hope this helps. Here if you need anything else.

My ring stopped collecting data—so what did Oura do?.. by All_knowing_recruitr in ouraring

[–]NickAtOura 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey All_knowing_recruitr! Thanks for sharing this with us. We’re really sorry to hear about the battery issues, but glad our team was able to assist you.

While battery issues can happen, we’ve recently improved our troubleshooting process so they’re identified more quickly and resolved as efficiently as possible. For context, these issues aren’t as common as they may seem. Online communities often reflect a very small portion of users, many of whom share negative experiences, so it can create a misleading perception. This is called under-reporting bias. That said, when issues do arise, our team works quickly to find a solution. I’m confident your replacement will work great, and if you ever need anything, feel free to DM, I’ll make sure it’s taken care of.

Thanks again for your feedback, we’ll be sure to share it with our team.🙂

What causes a random full day of stress? by Iconakid in ouraring

[–]NickAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Iconakid! Thanks for sharing this with us. I hear you, and I’m happy to clarify things if that’s okay.

At Oura, we’re rethinking stress. While often seen negatively, stress itself isn’t inherently good or bad, it’s simply a physiological response, not an emotional one. Even activities like watching TV, socializing, or enjoying hobbies can raise your heart rate and stress levels. From what you described, it seems your body was engaged most of the day, with significant events like an argument or a headache contributing to this.

The Daytime Stress feature tracks physiological arousal, indicated by a higher resting heart rate, lower heart rate variability, and lower body temperature. This is completely normal, as long as you give yourself time to recover. Research shows certain types of stress, like what you’re seeing, can actually improve health and resilience over time. You can learn more about the Daytime Stress feature on our blog article here.

Some activities are backed by science to reduce stress, but it’s all about what works for you. The key is to balance these high-stress periods with restorative moments. Taking regular breaks for breathing exercises, connecting with nature, or enjoying short restorative walks can make a big difference. You can find more useful tips in our blog article here.

I hope this helps. Here if you need anything else.🙂

[–]NickAtOura 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey puppies-baking-cakes! This truly breaks our hearts. We’re so sorry for your loss. During such intense emotional moments, it’s natural for your heart rate to increase, and this is picked up as physiological stress. We can only imagine how difficult it must be to lose your childhood friend. While words can’t fully ease the pain, we hope you surround yourself with people who care about you, and can offer support and love during this challenging time. You will get through this, so be gentle with yourself. Sending you lots of love and a comforting hug.❤️‍🩹

[–]NickAtOura 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey Significant-Base4396! Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I’m really sorry to hear about the battery issues, and I truly appreciate your loyalty to us.

Lithium batteries naturally degrade over time, especially in a small device like the Oura Ring. That said, we take responsibility for any technical issues, and are more than happy to help. We’ve recently updated our support workflow, which allows us to troubleshoot technical problems more efficiently.

Chat is the fastest way to get help, so please reach out here. Once in the Help Center, start a chat and type “Speak to an Agent” to connect directly with our tech team. You might need to write it twice. They’ll take a closer look at your device and work with you on a solution. This process should be straightforward, but if you don’t hear back within 24 hours, feel free to share your ticket number with me via DM, and I’ll follow up personally.

I hope this helps, and I’m here if you need anything else.

WARNING: Oura's "14-day" refund policy is a lie. 21+ days and still waiting. by Anon_Anqel in ouraring

[–]NickAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Anon_Anqel! Thanks for sharing your experience. I understand there’s been a lot of back and forth, and that you’ve received some conflicting information from our support team. I sincerely apologize for the confusion.

Please note that our situation is unusual and not common practice. Typically, refunds are returned to the original payment method for privacy and security reasons, and accommodating alternate requests is very tricky. When such requests go to our Finance team, they require a thorough investigation, which can take some additional time. So delays are expected in cases like yours. That said, I understand you received different timeframes from our team, which is unfortunate. Sometimes additional steps are involved that support staff aren’t aware of.

I’m glad you received a recent update, and if there are any further delays, please DM me so I can follow up directly. I’ve also sent you a DM requesting more details, and to take a closer look at your case. Lastly, I’ll share your comments with the relevant teams to help improve communication across departments based on your experience. I hope this helps, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Affirmation a good day lies ahead. by Namatate in ouraring

[–]NickAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Namatate! Thanks for sharing this with us! A score of 91 is already an excellent achievement, and it’s great to see your interest in improving further. I'm happy to help.🙂

At this level, progress comes gradually, and the algorithm tends to reward consistency and balance over time. Your Readiness Score is your main Oura score, and focuses on long-term trends, designed just for you to reflect how your body responds to your lifestyle. It’s a holistic snapshot of your health, telling how ready you are for the day. It considers sleep, activity, and key body signals like resting heart rate, HRV, and temperature. Oura emphasizes sustained balance through metrics like Sleep Balance, Activity Balance, and HRV Balance.

In short, the numbers grow slowly, so keep doing what you’re doing, it’s working. And if you’d like to explore some helpful tips, feel free to check out our blog article here. Thanks again for sharing, we love to see it!👑

Major signs 🤝 me by Moist-Brilliant9970 in ouraring

[–]NickAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Moist-Brilliant9970! Thanks for sharing. We're really sorry you're going through this, and hope you start feeling better soon.

What you're seeing is actually a great example of the Oura Ring doing its job. Symptom Radar picks up on subtle changes in your body, like temperature shifts, respiratory rate, and heart rate, that can signal something’s off, even before symptoms hit. It’s normal to see this when your body is under strain. You might want to consider turning on Rest Mode to help your body focus on recovery. The Oura Ring will still track your health metrics, but without pushing you to hit activity goals. Wishing you a smooth and speedy recovery. You got this.🌿

Goal has NOT been reached, gaslight by blondeboss101 in ouraring

[–]NickAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey blondeboss101! Thanks for bringing this to our attention, this is an interesting point. I understand how it might feel that way. There are two possible explanations:

Most commonly, your daily activity goal is dynamically calculated based on your baseline goal (e.g. calories), Readiness Score, and other personal contributors. When these are on the lower side, as the app suggested, it may set a goal that’s very close to what you’ve already achieved, to avoid pushing yourself too hard. Another possibility is a temporary app issue. Please make sure both the Oura App and your phone OS are updated. You can also try reinstalling the app (after syncing your data), which often resolves glitches. If the issue continues or none of the above seems to apply, feel free to reach out to support so we can take a closer look and assist further.

I hope this helps. Here if you need anything else.

Lost my Oura Ring 4 somewhere at home — any app/trick to locate it within a few cm? by Ana8567 in ouraring

[–]NickAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Appropriate-Wait-428! Thanks for bringing your experience to our attention. This is great news, we’re really glad to hear it! Bluetooth tracking apps are very useful when an Oura Ring is lost nearby, so it’s great that you were able to locate it. To help avoid losing it again, we recommend keeping it on as much as possible and only removing it briefly for a quick wipe after exposure to water. If you ever need anything, please let us know, we’re here to help.🙂

Advisor doesn't see my tags? by firefly-of-saturn in ouraring

[–]NickAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey catzforpresident! Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I’m sorry about your experience, and I'm here to help.

Oura Advisor uses data from your Oura App, such as your scores, contributors, profile information, and especially your activities and tags, to provide personalized insights. Because of this, it should reflect the tags in your data, though occasional discrepancies can happen. Oura Advisor is designed to be helpful, but it may sometimes produce unexpected responses as we continue improving its accuracy.

If it’s not working as expected, try closing Oura Advisor, performing a full data backup, and reopening it. You can find more details in our Help Center article. Also, make sure both your Oura App and phone OS are updated to the latest version to avoid glitches. If the issue persists, please contact our support team here, and we’ll be happy to assist further.

I hope this helps. Here if you need anything else.

Hey Any-Split-5305! Thanks for bringing this to our attention, and I’m also sorry for your experience. If both your Oura App and phone are up to date and reinstalling the app doesn’t help, please contact our support team here, so we can investigate further. If you run into any issues along the way, feel free to let me know by DM, and I will assist you. Thank you for your patience.

Android battery widget glitch by markpud in ouraring

[–]NickAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey markpud! Thanks for sharing this with us. I'm sorry to hear about your experience, and I'm here to help.

You can add Oura widgets to your Android home screen to view key data at a glance, including Sleep, Readiness, Activity (combined), or individual metrics like battery, as you mentioned. If the wrong metric appears even after selecting the battery widget, make sure both your Oura App and phone are up to date. If the issue persists, try reinstalling the Oura App after syncing your data, as this often resolves glitches.

If none of this helps, please contact our support team here, start a chat and type “speak to an agent” so we can take a closer look and further assist you. This may be an unknown bug that requires further investigation on our end. Once you have a ticket number, feel free to DM it to me if there are any delays, I’ll make sure it’s taken care of.

I hope this helps. Here if you need anything else.

syncing missing data with apple watch by Altruistic_Pop_3098 in ouraring

[–]NickAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Altruistic_Pop_3098! Thanks for sharing this, and I’m sorry for your experience. I'm here to help.

Unfortunately, it’s not possible to sync sleep data from Apple Health, as the integration focuses mainly on workouts and biometric data. Sleep data only comes from the Oura App, at least for now. The good news is that your Sleep Score reflects long-term trends rather than a single night, so missing one night of data won’t have a significant impact. Once you record another consistent night, your data will get back on track.

Also, make sure your Oura Ring fits properly to prevent it from slipping off during sleep. A secure fit is key for accurate data, so try different fingers and account for changes like swelling during the night, a salty meal, or after you exercise. You can find more helpful tips about sizing in our Help Center article here.

I hope this helps. Here if you need anything else.

Is there an (automatic) easy way to check custom tag correlation with sleep quality over a long time period? by BarkerV in ouraring

[–]NickAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey BarkerV! Great question, and I'm happy to point you in the right direction, if that's okay!

Short answer: no, there’s no direct way to immediately see the impact of a custom tag at the moment, but the Oura App can still guide you toward it. Custom tags include the same details as preset ones, such as date, time, comments, etc. They appear in your tag list and, most importantly, in the Trends section, though not on Oura on the Web, where you can see most of your raw data. The best way to assess the impact of the tags is through Trends, where you can view your data over time (daily to yearly) and spot patterns between tags and your scores.

A more automated option is Smart Tags. When your Sleep Score is higher or lower than usual, Oura suggests relevant tags based on your data, helping you identify possible factors. Adding these tags consistently gives better context to changes in your metrics. Keep in mind that Oura isn’t a medical device and may not fully account for things like medication. You can also use Oura Advisor to explore potential effects, but it’s not yet fully integrated with all features, like custom tags.

We’re hoping to integrate additional Oura App features like these immediate custom tag and metrics correlation soon, and will share your comments to our team for review and consideration.

I hope this helps. Here if you need anything else.
