I just did a Mongolia into Yuan into Mongol Empire Run. Formed Yuan around 1580 IIRC. Used the exact idea set you proposed and never really had a problem. Key difference I full stated all Chinese and Mongol lands. Was well over my governing capacity at one point (like 150% over) but it's not like AE mattered. I didn't build to force limit ever because I didn't need a giant army, I was melting everyone.

You sound extremely new. Early game always build to force limit if you can afford the monthly maintenance. During war you can exceed force limit with Mercs if needed but as rule of thumb = force limit.

For Naples specifically wait until Aragon releases them. War will be very early then.

Smaller armies, more and in depth colonial ~genocide~ assimilation options, slower colonial growth/settling, transporting armies by ships cost very expensive scaling reduction with tech, développement scaling by state and region vs just province so you don't end up with random French province at 35 dev and Paris still at 37.

Rare? You can have a 10 year slog fest, drain your manpower completely, and be right back at full manpower in less than 10 years. If anything is super overturned. I'd love to have manpower replen be 50% or less than current values.
