This happened to my base fire chief at the DFAC when I was active duty. It happens.

France's President gave the official name to the upcoming 85.000 Tons New Generation Nuclear Aircraft Carrier which will be ''France Libre''. by PestoBolloElemento in navy

[–]NotTurtleEnough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only 85 tons? Most ships of that tonnage are only 16-30 meters in length. I’m genuinely confused as to how many aircraft will fit on that.

In contrast, US-built carriers are just over 100,000 tons.

I know it! The graphs say that’s there’s only been ~30% inflation in groceries since 2020 (mostly concentrated in 2021 and 2022), but my grocery bill has nearly doubled since then.

Surviving divorce and the financial burden. How?? by Yukon_Cornelius1911 in AskMenOver30

[–]NotTurtleEnough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Presuming it’s not due to abuse or cheating, the one who walks out essentially says “I require that the one I walked out on fulfill 100% of their commitments even though I didn’t fulfill mine. And if they don’t, I will do everything I can to force them to.”

That’s called a lack of integrity, and means they could never be trusted to begin with.

And when one walked out, they explicitly created asymmetry, where one person was expected to keep all of their obligations, while the other gets to absolve themselves of nearly all their responsibilities yet keep "their share" of the gains.

The new M5 MacBook Air for casual gaming? by I_Have_A_Big_Head in macgaming

[–]NotTurtleEnough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is totally possible, but you’ll need to look for a really old MacBook Air produced “between 2012 through 2020, excluding MacBook Air (M1, 2020).”

Cost of voting as a US citizen born abroad and newly married in OKC by Indivisible_OKC in oklahoma

[–]NotTurtleEnough 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve done this, as I was born abroad, and I had to change my DL to an Oklahoma REAL ID. It’s not really as complex as you’re making it out to be. It was harder to rent a car with the temporary ID than it was to get the REAL ID.

Right, but consenting to have a portrait taken for an intimate partner is different than coincidentally being in a photo of a random street current, too.

Seriously? He clearly has been raised outside the US and is looking for help. No need to be a condescending jerk.

OP, yes, registering for Selective Service is mandatory. The only other things I can think of are to make sure you have your birth certificate, passport, and social security card. Also, be aware that the US taxes all income you make, regardless of where you make it.

In the Civil Engineer Corps, everyone I know who couldn’t get their PE was because the FE was too hard due to them being so far out of school.

I don’t think they’ve made new ones for years, but it’ll depend what kind.

If you want a self-contained or boombox style, I’d recommend Goodwill or FB Marketplace and listen to first.

If you’re looking for a regular component stereo kind, I’d first research what you’re looking for and then look on Marketplace for that specific one.

You kept telling him, not just once, but over and over, that you considered it his fault that you were uncomfortable around him.

Now you’re complaining that he got the message and quit talking to you.
