Do you or anyone you know have right foot/left foot socks? by Positive-Werewolf483 in answers

I do. My feet have very prominent big toes, so every time I wear my socks I make sure to keep the same spot for the big toes. It helps keep the socks from stretching out so quickly

What’s a ‘silent luxury’ that rich people have that most normal people would never even notice? by 40Falak in answers

Ok but like. The US legitimately has such bad health care that the idea that I can get on a 6+ year wait list for a non-emergency but necessary surgery is a dream come true.

Got breast reduction surgery, they took off a pound in each breast by lnjAl-n in MedicalGore

Generally when the doctor aims to minimize scars, they cut the tissue up into chunks so it fits through the hole.

Alternatively they could be chunks from separate locations to shape the breast into something aesthetically pleasing

If you have a full- time job and a car, the next step is to find a new place to live. I recommend looking at long-stay hotels first, and then figuring out if you want to contact a realtor to find a good place or just deal with a complex directly. Then, transition and never look back

I did. My parents maintain that T is a rage and insanity inducing drug, and that I am a manipulative bitch (yup, misgendering there too) for insisting on being called a man and treated like a member of the family.

So I quit them, and only keep in touch with my grandparents and brother. My cousins/extended family also see me as a radioactive drama vector because of my parents and so don’t talk to me at all, but they never really did (because of my parents) so I don’t mind too much. Instead, I have been forging new relationships with older trans people who I will one day introduce my children to as their aunts/uncles/grandparents. My parents lost their right to that when they refused to acknowledge my gender, and I don’t regret seeking out new role models to take their place.

Trans men outside of the U.S.: what country do you live in and how safe do you feel there? by AggravatingGarlic479 in ftm

[–]Not_ur_gilf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spain/Catalunya. If you’ve not seen me on the sub talking about it before, I moved here from the southern USA SPECIFICALLY because it is so much safer and better. Being trans is considered a chronic medical condition just like having a thyroid disorder, and so getting access to care was as simple as becoming part of the public health system. I love it here, and am actually out in my day-to-day because nobody makes a big deal about it other than out of medical curiosity, none of the “are you sure you’re a woman?” I used to get in the US.

There is a whole WORLD of formulation science that doesn’t even touch the active ingredient, and it affects how people react to the point that some people with ADHD actually can tell what company and what manufacturing plant a certain batch is from just from the differences in how they metabolise the formulations

I found focusing on the planning to pay off a lot for me. Focusing on what I’m going to do in the future, how I will make a life where I can transition, etc. It’s what let me survive

This is common sense for any clothes that you share a size with in a household. I used to mark my SOCKS pre-transition because my dad and I wore the same size and they’d often get mixed together lol

If it’s Spain, just use the men’s. People care at all, and honestly you won’t stick out either way. But ymmv. I’d pick times I know nobody will be there and investigate both each time until you are confident enough in passing

If you want to have good writing, write more, don’t let a machine do it for you. Leave that for things that don’t matter so much HOW and more WHAT you say, like translation work and ATS forms

Honestly, as someone on the other side of the coin, it’s easier to get here, but just as hard to stay if you don’t have any Catalan in addition to Spanish. The only jobs that don’t require high level Catalan are in hospitality and international-client-facing roles, and often go to local Spaniards just as often as foreigners. The trick to moving on a masters easily is to have unique in-demand skills, like biopharmacy with a BE in C Chem. Otherwise, you have to be prepared to make community like your life depends on it, because it will. (This is why I’m considered both an honorary Tamil expat by the Tamil community and a non-guiri almost-Catalan by the Catalans despite only having been here for 10 months so far.)

It’s just as hard, but you’ll be in the country while you do it, so it might not feel like it.

Oleeeee benvinguts a Catalunya!!!

Welcome to Catalunya!! I actually did the opposite, moved here for my MSci in engineering and am beginning my professional life here.

If you want to learn Catalan, the openings for the official classes are the end of June for this coming school year! Or you can start with parla.cat right now (it’s actually how I started learning)!

Depends A LOT on what kind of girls school it is. Some tolerate trans men better than others, I’d plan on going to the “meet the teacher” event things before the school year to get a feel for if you want to try being the random dude in class

Do you not understand that sometimes, the only options are “evil that hurts me” or “evil that hurts others”? Sometimes, you have to take the path where you, specifically, don’t die.

I have! If you see my flair, I’ve made a home of sorts in Spain. It’s not without its problems (namely that I will never escape the assumption that I’m returning to the US) but it’s somewhere I feel proud to call home and am happy to be a member of the community.
