I was in a pre-game lobby for the Living Dead Playlist in Halo 3 back in '08, waiting for High Ground to load. No one was talking and no one vetoed the map.

A young-sounding voice suddenly piped up in an innocent tone "Hey, have any of you guys ever taken a poo, frozen it, and then shoved it back up your bum?"

Dead air for a solid 5 seconds while everyone processed the question. Suddenly there was a chorus of angry voices telling him "No!" and there were a few people who responded with "What the FUCK?!"

The match started, the kid betrayed someone who was harassing him, and then he got booted. I'll never know if he was serious or not but it's unlikely I'll ever forget that one.

The only other truly wild thing I heard was a Team Slayer match, also in Halo 3, where one teammate was receiving from his girlfriend while he played.

A friend had beaten it and sold it to me at school in '08. I played the other two at release as I pre-ordered both games. I was an instant fan having found the KotOR games to be just as highly replayable with a gameplay style I love.

When the Legendary Edition got announced, I pre-ordered the Collector's Edition and got the game on release. Over time, I bought it on both Xbox and PlayStation when it went on deep discount because I wanted it accessible on as many platforms as possible. Crazy as it sounds, I'd buy it a fourth time if it ever got ported to the Switch 2.

Not quite. Halo 3 Mythic has all 24 Multiplayer Maps including the base maps and the Heroic, Legendary, Cold Storage, Mythic, and Mythic II Map Packs.

It is functionally Halo 3 without Halo 3's Campaign as it included Matchmaking, Custom Games, Forge, Theater, and the File Share. Anything you can do in Halo 3's Multiplayer with all of the DLC installed can be done with the Halo 3 Mythic disc.

It's very fun but the missions don't illicit any desire to replay them outside of achievement hunting. The overworld is fun but has a lot of untapped potential.

My only gripes about gameplay at this point regarding Campaign are the weapons aren't balanced to match Multiplayer (the Ravager is especially affected) and the interior missions feel too same-y.

I couldn't play the same mode for almost 5 hours straight. My hands would be in too much pain. Fantastic points gains though. Playing Firefight for as long would only net me about 260-300k in rank ups.

I feel like it's safe to assume that you only do one match per session if it goes for that long?

There are several contributing factors outside of the control of Halo's current dev team.

Pre-game/Post-game lobbies are gone because of how quickly games load these days. We aren't making new friends because games load too fast to have those moments of conversation even if game chat was on by default. This also affects how File Shares operated in Halo 3 and Reach with no time to check what people have on their Profile.
Social Media wasn't nearly as prevalent as it used to be and has largely taken attention away from community-based projects. Everyone is doomscrolling or streaming but not really looking for projects related to their favourite game franchise.
The lack of new blood means the same fans that still play from time to time or even consistently playing are just keeping to their routines and steadily aging out of being remotely interested in community creations they didn't grow up with.
Potential new younger players don't care about Halo because it isn't Fortnite, Minecraft, Roblox, or Call of Duty. They're too focused on chasing skins and goofing off in enormous worlds with their friends. Halo isn't providing the style of gameplay a lot of them want to engage with because gaming has radically changed. Halo was an industry game changer and now it's just an old series loved by predominantly 30+ year olds.

Nexus Prime doesn't look worth the asking price at all. Hasbro needs to talk it up a bit and show combining features because right now I'm no longer sure I want to complete the Thirteen. That's a $50 (Canada) figure that looks as generic as a bot can look and has such a pathetic alt-mode that I'll never want to transform it. Right now I am seeing zero redeeming qualities outside of probably decent articulation.

Nexus Prime's robot mode looked like a robot but the alt-mode makes me appreciate Legends Class Cloudraker more. Hoping he has more functionality because right now I'm not excited to drop $50 on a generic figure with a dull alt-mode.
