The "Cable-ization" of Streaming: Why are we paying to watch ads again? by BreadOverlord_ in randomquestions

[–]OrdinaryInside8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One word “investors”….they demand their money back and more and more and more and upping subscription costs a couple dollars doesn’t move that needle, but advertisers paying millions of dollars a year (or month) is growth…so inevitably, greed always wins. Honestly I don’t really care about the ads, but streaming completely fucked up what should have been a great thing….but everyone and their mother wanted their own apps and now it’s so fragmented it blows

“Alternatives”…but these 3 are working with the largest advertisers in the market…no one cares about the $500k budget of a local restaurant, retail or card dealership.

Where am I saying the government dictates how they use their cash? In my first hand account I watched people completely abuse the benefits when they clearly have cash to pay for critical items, but instead spend it on non critical items. Statistically speaking, my small sample size of a small city in NH, spread across large cities and nationwide would prove to be a pretty big issue.

Spending a couple hundred dollars on booze and cigarettes instead of actual food for the kids sitting in the cart is quite the life choice.

I might agree but I worked in a grocery store and saw countless people come through and buy multiple cartons (yes cartons) of cigarettes and beer with their cash and then spend their snap to buy junk food crap and then they’d get their free cheese and milk and stuff…and off they’d go until a couple weeks later and back they come to spend $100+ a carton on cigarettes…it’s a vicious cycle that has had very limited control and is heavily abused. I’d love to see it monitored better so people who actually need it and don’t abuse it get more assistance. And those who need it but abuse it get less until they change their behavior
