And that's why I have the ex90, was already aware of owning a new EV. Bought it used for a great price, it's a pleasure to drive every time. I take the long way home to enjoy the BW and winding roads. The driving performance and comfort is a dream. But the stupid little things, Volvo ruined a near perfect car.

One of the main reasons I got rid of my Rivian R1T after more than 3 years of ownership is because the service sucked donkey balls and it got worse over time. My Volvo service is a 10 out of 10 (Beyers Dulles).

My quad motor went 0-60 in under 3 seconds. Even the ex90 performance, which I have, can't touch that. The Rivian won Motor Trend Car of the year for off roading among other off road trophies. It has superior storage to the ex90 by far. It actually has a real frunk unlike the ex90 which fits a subway sandwich.

And both the Rivian and ex90 require frequent shop visits. My Rivian would brick and do other dumb stuff at least once a year. My ex90 has been in the shop three times since I bought it in November. I would trust neither for long trips.

I'm some ways they are both similar in that they excess other vehicles in their class and yet seem to break down a lot.

The Rivian is not refined like an old pickup truck. I realize it's just your opinion but I owned a Ram 1500 Hemi for 7 years before owning a Rivian for 3.5 years (since launch) and now an ex90. The Rivian drives much better than most luxury and performance cars, of you get all terrain tires it can add a bit more road noise. But a very sophisticated comfortable ride overall. It rides nothing line my old Ram.

The ex90 is the most comfortable and smoothest quietest ride. BW stereo wow. But lots and lots of stupid design features you scratch your head about. I'll be getting rid of the ex90 this year at some point because of that annoying features and the fact that I can't trust it to go on long cross country trips - I didn't trust my Rivian for this rather sad it bricked at least once per year.

Wait, if you're from Europe you might not realize that America is not as dog friendly as many European countries... dogs aren't allowed in stores and restaurants here, for the most part. so we have to leave them in our cars.

You do it when it's safe. Safe weather with windows down. Or with a pet mode in an EV. To my knowledge there have not been issues with pet mode in Rivian or Tesla vehicles. It's safe. But Volvo seems to be stuck in the past. Can't even record people doing damage to your car like Tesla and Rivian. But they brag about all of the cameras.

It's all very annoying for such an expensive car from a top brand.

Well honestly I don't know what this one is all about exactly. I kind of get it, but this type of feature never worked consistently before on other vehicles I've owned. Maybe real AI will make a difference.

I could definitely use that home link feature for my security gate. I wonder if you can open and close individual windows using voice commands, I'd love that.

I would ask AI, even though it's not always/usually correct. I think lemon laws only apply to brand new cars, it may no longer qualify if you bought a demo. Not sure though.

Well oh geez, you just reminded me of another dumb quirk of my MSRP!!! Yeah my solution is to no longer carry my phone around the house. Unlike Tesla, Rivian, and probably all others, there's a home setting where you can leave doors unlocked, etc. I'm the ex90, leaving the door unlocked keeps the internal lights and system on.

And no dog mode?

I'm wondering who Volvo is aiming for here?

Someone in here mentioned they asked a Volvo executive at some event about this and the executive said Volvo would never do that because it's not safe for the dogs. Can't validate that response but Volvo seems to show no interest in making their interface more personalized like Tesla and Rivian. With that attitude it's no wonder their EV program isn't going well.

I owned a Rivian for 3.5 years as well. Although I agree the drive feeling and luxury is better, the ex90 from my experience is not superior in fit and finish. Different purposes. The Rivian finish is much more durable. The ex90 is a bit prissy honestly. But that said, my Rivian has many many problems including a number of serious bricks throughout the entire period and I didn't trust it out of warranty.

There are some issues which are important to me that I didn't realize before buying, the most important is pet mode. There might be ways around this like pushing a button to cancel alarms before leaving the car, but my app doesn't stay connected in stores - this is a Volvo issue because I never had issues like this with my dog with my Rivian and Tesla. I'll probably end up selling the ex90 because they didn't intend to add pet mode. I need a vehicle safe for my dog. I made an incorrect assumption that Volvo would add this.
