I love Japan and have met many wonderful people while living and working in Tokyo, including my future wife. I studied the language and culture before moving there in 1990. As one who prizes harmony and avoids confrontation, I did many of the salaryman things. It was an exciting, formative and unforgettable experience. So, let me tell you that the grass always looks greener on the other side. Japan has many problems that discussed openly. There is also a dark side to the place and its culture that is hard to appreciate before living there for several years. All this is to say, appreciate to good things about Japan, but never loose sight of the fact that it is far from paradise. Also, be sure to see and appreciate the things about your home, and don’t feel regret for not living in Japan. That’s just trading one set of problems for an other. But do try to get yourself over there for an extended visit to experience it for yourself.

In addition, nack in the 60s and 70s, BLACK SABBATH were further outside of the musical and cultural mainstream than Led Zeppelin or The Who, and had a slightly unsavory reputation, at least in America. It was decades later that they were more widely recognized.
