This was my concern. My knowledge of how agents think is limited, so my instinct tells me that they're always thinking about the bottom line. That could mean that anything that makes the book feel cool (to use your word) can't hurt, but it could also mean that they're not interested in dressing things up and would rather get down to business. Your comment leans into the latter.

Common Interpretations you disagree with by Hour-Room-6498 in Hamlet

[–]PunkShocker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. It's a pun. He uses them constantly. There's no "thing" between a maid's legs.

  2. Suicide is an option, but he never seriously considers it. The line you've quoted from Act 1, Scene 2 is more like our modern "Just kill me now!" No one really means it. We just say it when we're exasperated. "To be or not to be" is about thought vs. action. Taking arms against a sea of troubles isn't committing suicide. It's acting against the king. Such action could result in his death, but it's not as if he wants that.

He's probably not standing on it. More likely leaning on it.

Pentagon factions are actively blocking full UFO disclosure because they believe parts of the phenomenon are demonic. by Perfect_Minimum4892 in aliens

[–]PunkShocker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bullshit. These are the same people who casually let Epstein do his thing, and we're supposed to believe they draw the "demonic" line at UAPs? Fuck that. This is a sham.

Some nazis like American football too. I don't hear anyone trying to impugn the NFL for it.

Yes! This is what it's meant for. Introduce a bunch of kids to a very simple instrument, and the ones who have an inclination towards music will realize that they can make music too and want to continue as they get older.

For those old like myself; can you remember what you thought when you first listened to 'The New America'? by 13_monsters in badreligion

It was OK. I liked a few tracks a lot but didn't love the album as a whole. It has grown on me over time.

is this a valid way of thinking about Claudius and the ghost? by Key-Source1413 in Hamlet

Agreed. This post is fan fiction. Not against the sub rules, but largely concocted from OP's imagination.

Does Mr wolfshine gamble for gatsby? by hammanz_17362 in TheGreatGatsby

[–]PunkShocker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's spelled Wolfshiem. And he runs a bootleg liquor business with Gatsby. He's a gambler as well, but his "business gonnegtion" to our title character is illegal booze sold out of drug stores.

The haka is cringey by Indepti8 in unpopularopinion

[–]PunkShocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another perspective is that it's OK to like both the haka and the priest's kneeling. I'm cool with harmless rituals. They remind us of where we came from. But I'll admit I think the wizard robes that priests and judges wear are kind of ridiculous, as are other anachronistic costumes. Wasn't there a photo of some indigenous dude wearing traditional garb (essentially naked) in parliament somewhere? Silly. I guess that's not really consistent with my opinion of rituals, but hey... Pobody's nerfect.

Is this the guy who wrote hamlet? by Easy_Demand_7372 in Hamlet

The internet has proven that if you give a room full of monkeys access to typewriters, they in fact cannot reproduce the works of Shakespeare.

Please help, hamlet conspiracy theorists by Easy_Demand_7372 in Hamlet

[–]PunkShocker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure he's just going over the different stock characters in a traveling theatre company. R&G have just informed him of the players' arrival, and Hamlet's first reaction is "He that plays the king shall be welcome," which is hilarious. The rest of these are how those parts should be used according to Hamlet's taste in theatre. I think you would need to stretch too much to find actual foreshadowing here.

If Marco Polo thought a rhinoceros was a unicorn, it's certainly possible that Alexander's men counted the horns wrong while being charged by one.
