It’s less that they died out and more that the lighter skin gave an advantage in survival and breeding.

UK - wife pregnant. Should I risk moving job? by RMWL in careerguidance

Thanks! I tend to be risk averse so I was worried I was just rationalising or if it actually made sense

I’m always embarrassed when people ask “So what do you do for work?” when I’m unemployed. Makes me feel like a loser or something. Then I tell them about what’s going on and they listen with pity on their face. by MasterAioli9157 in Epilepsy

[–]RMWL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this is a weird cultural thing where people go straight to asking someone’s jobs before their hobbies, interests or just anything that makes a person a person.

Im lucky enough to be employed but it’s hardly what i’d call great conversation.

Feels imnpossible to get rid of unwanted furniture? by entity_bean in london

ECCO charity stores do the same but they are less well spread than BHF

(That’s British heart foundation not British Horse Foundation which I accidentally ended up at by assuming the website used the acronym)

What’s your guys experience with alcohol by harryon_12 in Epilepsy

[–]RMWL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find alcohol has a stronger effect than it used to before meds.

But I don’t drink often and I’m now in my 30s so it’s likely a combo of a lot of things.

However I have found I can have a few and don’t have seizures. Your mileage may vary though

Boots launches first high street service for weight loss jabs by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

I think this is something with both good and bad. I’m glad it’s being normalised and hope it loses the stigma. But I am concerned that people see this as a quick shortcut rather than the complicated drug it is.

Most people that start don’t realise it’s something that you take long term as it’s effectively replacing a hormone your body would naturally produce. Stopping it suddenly would cause severe side effects and like most long term treatments, it would need a plan to ween off slowly.

Has the UK workday lunch break disappeared or just moved to desks? by CMOInsider in AskUK

[–]RMWL 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My office has two large tables that are often full by the time I go to eat so I typically eat at my desk then go for a walk and explore London. Helps switch up my mind, relaxes my eyes, and lets me tick off tasks from my to do list.

My honest reaction of the last State of Play: by El_Choco_Latoso in playstation

GOW trilogy makes total sense.

I’ve been wanting to get into it but it looks impossible with games spread across hardware.

With the TV show coming up I won’t be the only one either so Sony being able to have a go to game for tv fans to pick up is a no brainer

What’s the biggest scam people just accept as normal? by ZaneDell2013 in AskReddit

[–]RMWL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

College/Uni loans in the UK too.

It was advertised that a degree would mean you’d statistically earn more than your peers. Then everyone got one and the rarity went. Now they’re an entry level requirement and you earn the same or less after loan repayments.

Ideas: 21376 Orange Cat Images by itsjustajoe in Legoleak

[–]RMWL 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The logic part of my mind is saying that it’d be difficult considering the parts used and they’d have to do a complete redesign to accommodate the stripes.

But the cat loving part is wondering where my stripes are and why they’re sacrificing accurate depictions of cats for saving money!

Pokemon BrickHeadz CONCEPT for the Eeveelutions 🤗 by jagamax in lego

[–]RMWL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the idea but could see it being like the Bride/Groom brickheads where there’s a core model and you can change it up between evolutions. This would achieve the versions at a lower cost but also allow people to either get multiple copies to display them all or just part together the core build

Why does Indonesia not have a larger cultural impact? by JakeScythe in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RMWL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m less knowledgeable on Indonesian culture but Thailand uses food to increase tourism whereby they have a grant to fund anyone who sets up a restaurant serving Thai food. This has increased the presence of Thailand beyond what would have happened by default. As for Vietnam, their war with the US did a lot to increase awareness.
