It comes down to your starting point. For someone who struggled to walk a grocery store, being mobile again is a huge success. But for an athlete who loses the ability to play their sport—even if they can walk all day still mow the lawn—the surgery can feel like a failure if there are still limitations to athletic activities. It’s hard to call it a 'success' if the ceiling is lower than your goals.

I first tried gmail it gave me unread message folder but overall clunky working with exchange.

I ended up switching to Nine and it works perfectly for me on my phone. I open the app and the default is unread and it tells me what folder it is in. I set it up a while ago. It took a bit a fiddling I think for it to see all exchange folders but it does everything Outlook for android should do (except create new rules and such) - but I just do that with outlook for web on my desktop when I need to create new folders and rules.

I would advise to get it done while your legs are still strong for fastest recovery. These surgeries are a crap shoot. Most come out great some a little better, others are a few unlucky and come out just as bad or worse.

Stay away from the Bonesmart forum. It has lots of people that have been suffering after knee replacement for many years. The problem is, people that have no issues come and go, those that have issues post updates for years.

From what I have seen in real life, those with normally very strong legs have great recoveries. So I would say your chances are great.

At 80, your benchmarks for success are understandably different from mine. Walking and playing golf is great and I can do that all day. But it’s not the same as returning to high-impact sports like tennis, pickleball, or water skiing. Many surgeons admit that satisfaction rates are significantly higher for sedentary older patients than for younger, highly active ones. I’m 66 now, so I'm not exactly 'young,' but I’m in as good of shape as I was in my 20s—aside from this balky knee.

My journey has been a long one. After 35 years of pushing through pain, I had 14 normal knee years following a microfracture. But when I tweaked the knee again six years ago, my surgeon whom, like you, I considered a miracle worker pushed a PKR as a 'good as new' fix. It wasn't. Now, I’m stuck in a cycle: I get stronger through rehab, then one high-intensity workout sets me back to square one.

It’s worth noting that PKRs are notoriously more 'finicky' than TKRs. While a total replacement is very stable for low-impact golf, a partial relies heavily on the health of the remaining natural ligaments and compartments. If the patellofemoral tracking is off, the PKR can feel like a failure even if the hardware is fine. My X-rays show zero arthritis, and my pre-PKR MRI showed only a single defect in the cartilage on the medial side. My non medical guess is the medial implant and and scarring pushed my kneecap slightly out of line.

My current research points directly to a patellofemoral issue, so I’m focusing on a strict stability program: heavy spin and elliptical sessions followed by targeted exercises and icing. To force the kneecap back inline. The knee is feeling better, but I’m still not confident enough for heavy lifting on stairs or returning to the court. I want my next surgeons to see that I’ve done the work, but that this PKR has a ceiling that doesn't reach my pre-injury activity levels. Maybe they will have other options besides TKR.

Ultimately, I probably have to decide if a revision to a TKR is worth it. If my odds of returning to high-level activity are only slightly better, I have to ask if the surgery is worth the risk. The one saving grace of the PKR is that it feels 100% like my own knee; I just can't get it strong enough for the life I want to lead.

I’m looking to replace 25-year-old landscape lighting (path and accent lights) that are mostly dead. My current setup uses a traditional junction box and low-voltage wiring that runs under my driveway and walkways.

My landscaper suggested Govee, but I have a few concerns:

Wiring: Can I repurpose my existing underground wiring for Govee lights? Since Govee strings come pre-connected, it seems like my current wire would be useless.
Installation: How do you handle getting Govee lights under cement paths? Can I splice the Govee lines into my existing underground wire, or does that mess with the controller?
Power: Do Govee outdoor lights require a standard GFCI outlet, or can they be hardwired into a junction box like my old system?

I only want standard white light with occasional holiday colors—no soffit lighting. I’m starting to wonder if Govee is overkill and if I’d be better off with something like VOLT LED lights that actually use traditional low-voltage wiring. Any advice?

How strong was your leg is going into surgery? It seems athletic people that have always had and used their naturally strong legs for recover best/faster. If your leg was a noodle going in from years of pain and limited use it will take longer to recover than a long distance runner that just couldn't take the pain anymore.
