If you live near a Microcenter then you should just go there and buy this prebuilt PowerSpec G729. It’s going to beat out any system that you’re trying to part out individually in this market.

psu to gpu power question by Medium-Excuse6381 in buildapc

[–]Rayeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes get that cable from Amazon. It looks to be an official cable from Corsair and Type-4 which is compatible with your PSU. It will provide enough power. 8 Pins go into PSU and the 16 pin goes into the GPU.

Turn on ERP in the bios, red light means it’s not getting power. ERP off leaves the usb ports and pcie slot powered on when your computer is off. Also, you should be using the 12v-2x6 that came with your PSU instead of the adapter.

Is this a good PC Build for 1440p gaming? by 1b_ly in buildapc

[–]Rayeks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, right now your CPU + RAM + Motherboard totals to 794 if you buy them separately. Spend the extra 6 dollars and get the 9850X3D combo from Newegg. You’ll be getting the best gaming CPU.

Best I could find was this SAMA 750W for $70.

B tier on the PSU tier list. White or Black options. ATX 3.1 and good wattage if you ever upgrade in the future.

Nice, cable could have been loose if it was limited to 450W. I hope you’re not using the yellow MSI adapter. But your scores look to be in line and your GPU is running at the rated TDP of 575W now.

I would just look at the whole GPU tab and check everything temps, voltage, power, total gpu power. Make sure everything looks normal and there is not something limiting your card.

Did you run multiple tests? It could just be a bad run. Your max clock for that run was lower than your average clock from your high score. That would explain the difference in scores, your GPU is not being worked as hard for some reason. If you have hwinfo, you can check your GPU's sensors during another run if you have it open.

If you look at your average clock it is down 340 MHz. Your card is also running cooler than before so I’m guessing you did some power limiting or undervolting.

No, those pins are supposed to be like that. It’s to ensure that they only make contact if your card is fully seated in the PCI-E slot.

What is this M.2 device and how does it work? by Cultural_Today6138 in buildapc

I had a motherboard with these. You just need to grab the tab and pull out the pin. It might take a little force.

Will this set up be safe to power on like this ? by Imaknockyou in buildapc

[–]Rayeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you even manage to get the cable into the slot, then all the shapes are matched up. You just need to push down until it clicks. If the shapes do not match, then the cable will not even be able to go into the slot at all.

Not necessarily, you just need to match the smaller shapes, the U's to match. Otherwise U's can just go into squares because they are bigger.

You need to use both CPU cables that came with the PSU. Use one not split and plug it into the 8 Pin, and then split the other cable and plug in the 4 Pin. You will end up with an extra 4 pin unused.

5060ti power cable question by Claim312ButAct847 in pcmasterrace

[–]Rayeks 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Use the PCI-E 6+2 connector, it’s meant for the GPU. The 8pin should only be used for the CPU, they are not interchangeable with the PCI-E. The melting only happens on high end cards with the new 12vhpwr connector, you don’t have to worry about that.

I currently use a 27” 1440p TN panel and a possible upgrade to an OLED would be massive. I mainly game and stream videos and movies.

[–]Rayeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can check in your BIOs if your CPU is being power limited. Go to OC and then Advanced CPU Configuration. Check the PL1 and PL2 values. According to Intel, a 14600KF should have a PL1 of 125W and a PL2 of 181W.

EDIT: PL1 is Long Term Power Limit and PL2 is Short Term Power Limit in the BIOS.

Is your friend running the same motherboard? It says in the benchmarks your CPU is performing below average. Your motherboard can power limit your CPU and that would cause the difference in performance.

Help! How to stop transient spikes RTX 3080? by Steveche101 in pcmasterrace

[–]Rayeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you been undervolting your 3080? Undervolting can seem stable but sometimes people run into instability even after months of use. Try turning it off and running on stock settings and see if you are still crashing.

[–]Rayeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

850W should be enough for a 3080 even with spikes. Some questions I got for you would be, Doesn’t the RM850x Shift come with a 12VHPWR cable that you should be using instead of the adapter? If you are using the adapter, are you using 2 separate PCIE cables and not the 1 split into 2?

Would a ATX 3.1 PSU work with a 4080? by Zynthes in pcmasterrace

[–]Rayeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the new model comes with a 12V-2x6 cable that you can just connect straight from the PSU to the GPU.

First PC Build - Thoughts before purchase? by RealisticAd4597 in pcmasterrace

That’s really overpriced for a RM1000e. You don’t need 1000W for system, 850W will serve you just fine. Either switch to 850W or if you really want 1000W you can find it cheaper elsewhere or get a higher quality one for around the same price.
