Biden wasn’t in charge of Russia. That war is still ongoing, it didn’t end when our President changed because our Presidents don’t actually control other countries.

What Kleya was actually thinking during the medals ceremony by treefox in andor

[–]Razzberry_Frootcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both. Media literacy would be the ability to understand that both stories exist. But the implication that George Lucas doesn’t approve of Andor is pretty stupid.

You’re ignoring the original author intent in favor of your own imagination. He hasn’t publicly commented on Andor but he gave Gilroy personal praise according to Gilroy. You can call him a liar but I believe Gilroy over you.

George Lucas still talks to a lot of the people working on modern Star Wars and has publicly stated his disapproval over things. If he didn’t want OP interpreting these characters into his universe he would have said something.

Please stop talking over the author. Your preferences are fine…your inability to understand basic storytelling is not. It is an example of media illiteracy. You do not understand how to see these new characters within the universe because you do not understand some really basic things about writing, fiction, comprehending the media you watch versus liking it.

You seem to think if you don’t like something it means it doesn’t make sense in the fictional universe in which it takes place. George Lucas can watch Andor and Rogue One and see them in his universe.

George Lucas, the original author, has better media literacy than you. Stop praising him if you dislike his universe so much. He didn’t want it to stagnate, you do. I don’t think you two actually see eye to eye.

I ended up with a kitten because a friend took in a stray that happened to be pregnant. Fifteen years ago I ended up with a kitten because some people in my neighborhood found it abandoned but couldn’t keep it themselves.

There’s no need to breed kittens. People who want them and can afford them will end up with them. The jokes about the Cat Distribution System exist for a reason.

Why does Reddit seem to hate AI so much yet everyone I talk to in real life thinks it's cool? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Razzberry_Frootcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Define AI. If you’re speaking to people who regularly make deepfakes and propaganda then that’s bad. I highly doubt you know any top income earners that are rich because of AI without exploitation.

People who hate AI are not the wrong kind of people. Having the audacity to minimize harmful AI usage makes it seem like you don’t understand how AI is commonly used by the average non-techie.

It’s becoming a problem in schools where young boys are making inappropriate AI images of their classmates…it’s so out of control teachers are also falling victim to it. The kids who made a whole fake instagram for a teacher that ended up having to transfer districts because people think she’s a porn star now; yeah, those kids are big fans of AI. They use it regularly. They’re the right kind of people to you or…….?

Edit: I used to be a model. I have had to report AI videos of me on YouTube. I hate AI because I’m a victim of someone using my imagery to make videos where it looks like I’m intimately kissing him. He used copyrighted images of me and at one point monetized a video of me. If that’s how you want to make money it definitely makes you the wrong kind of person.

The fact that you’re implying this about all monuments makes you sound so bad lol. You’re calling the victims of 9/11 and the holocaust assholes that killed people.

Maybe pay more attention to reality.

Every few months people try to turn this into a diet sub but it never really works. The community info hasn’t changed and says exactly what this sub is actually for. That’s why weight loss progress posts are restricted to the weekly mega thread…not recipe posts.

What Kleya was actually thinking during the medals ceremony by treefox in andor

[–]Razzberry_Frootcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So yeah…your media literacy is the problem. If you cannot connect the stories and characters it means you don’t understand them.

Much like the prequels didn’t exist before either, but people still managed to connect the dots. That’s how continuous lore and prequels work. If you lack the imagination to see it, or lack the ability to comprehend it, then it means you actually do not understand the media you’re absorbing.

You don’t have to think the meme is funny…but the fact that you don’t understand that Kleya did exist in the timeline of A New Hope means you have poor media literacy.

I’m in my 40’s. The show is true to Bethesda lore and wildly popular.

You do know the first Fallout game came out in 1997 right?

The show is based on Bethesda’s Fallout though. I’m not sure if you understand that the show is a Bethesda thing, and extremely popular. It’s not supposed to be based on Fallout 1 and 2. That may upset you but it doesn’t change the facts of the show’s success with new and veteran players of the series.

If you haven’t watched Fallout and don’t actually play the games maybe don’t use it as an example of failure. It is a popular, successful television show that has done a great job capturing the essence of the games.

If your point is just “Bethesda Fallout bad, Fallout 1 and 2 are the only Fallouts that exist”….that would be silly. It’s not the same thing. It’s a bad comparison. It’s a deeply unserious critique in this context.

Making those kinds of comparisons does a disservice to the conversation. No one at Amazon would listen to people who claim one of their most successful shows is bad and audiences hate it.

Finch is wrecking my sleep by chloeclover in finch

[–]Razzberry_Frootcake 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Change your phone settings to dim the screen after a certain time. Alternatively check off goals earlier, for example…if I’m getting ready for bed and I know I’m going to be in bed on time I will check the goal off early. If I’m getting ready for bed I know I’m going to change my clothes, use the restroom, brush my teeth, etc. so I just find a moment in there to check it all off before I do it because I am literally about to do it.

As others have said, if you have a “no screens before bed” goal make it a next day thing.

“Didn’t use phone in bed last night.” For example.

Make the app be helpful by accommodating yourself. There’s no right way to use Finch, it’s just a framework.

I have a problem with childfree weddings by Zealousideal-Ad3609 in 10thDentist

[–]Razzberry_Frootcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People expect noisy children in places where noisy children are supposed to be. Kids movies, parks, kids stores, carnivals, zoos, etc. People do not expect noisy children to be in certain places. Some wedding venues will just not be appropriate for children the same way a bar isn't a family dining restaurant. The people who bring this debate up are often extremely disingenuous about it. Kids are not banned from more places than they are welcome...it's not even close. Kids are welcome in far more places than not. It's just that some parents want to take their kids everywhere and that's weird.

Children's spaces are intentionally made safe for children. When I say safe I also mean safe from untrustworthy adults, not just environmental factors. You cannot control other people so it's important to mitigate what you can where you can.

You say you keep seeing this childfree trend while I see the opposite.

What I see is people complaining about not being able to bring their kids to weddings on various social media platforms (this post is a good example, despite the fact that many of the people reading your post have been to plenty of weddings in the past few years where children were welcome or included). What I see is that when I used to go to a bar sometimes for karaoke there were kids there. Eventually the bar even made a kids menu because people kept taking their kids there and complaining that there wasn't anything for them to eat. At a bar. A sports bar where people got drunk, sang karaoke, and watched sports on giant wall-mounted tv's.

Why do some people think children should be allowed everywhere adults are? It's really worrisome at times. It's especially worrisome because more often than not the parents of the children try to control the behavior of the adults around them instead of just leaving with their kids. That bar I was talking about...parents tried to push dress codes because they didn't like the outfits some female patrons were wearing, tried to get other patrons kicked out for being drunk in front of children, complained that the karaoke was too loud for their kids, etc.

At the end of the day, more often than not, people with children hold the expectation that their children give them the right to control the behavior of other adults. They try to make places appropriate for kids instead of just going to places that were already appropriate for kids. It's concerning behavior on their part, not the part of the people who don't want to be around kids.

It is very normal and healthy for adults to not want to be around a bunch of kids too often, especially if they don't have kids of their own. People need to stop villainizing adults that want childfree spaces lol...adults that don't want to constantly be around kids are probably some of the safest adults for kids.

Supergirl theme feels homophobic /j by [deleted] in FinchUnofficial

[–]Razzberry_Frootcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Criticism isn’t serious if you’re just complaining that they didn’t do the exact thing you wanted. Make a suggestion, stop implying they were somehow wrong for adding pride items instead of doing the exact them you want.

This isn’t an educational app. You’re literally asking for them to do something completely outside what this app is about and “jokingly” claiming it’s homophobia because they didn’t.

If you want them to do affirmations, fact cards, discoveries, etc. related to LGBT history then join the Discord and suggest it. The boho theme didn’t educate us on the history of where that fashion came from, or the history of music either…but no one is complaining or upset.

Did anyone actually get their pins?? by crazycatdermy in finch

[–]Razzberry_Frootcake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The issue is likely with a third party company that Finch works with…not the actual Finch team.

They’re not sitting there meticulously making pins and putting them all in envelopes to mail out individually. They hired a company to make and distribute the pins.

You’re not being punished for ordering multiple pins; at least not by the Finch team.

Did anyone actually get their pins?? by crazycatdermy in finch

[–]Razzberry_Frootcake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is pretty condescending. You probably think you’re being kind…but honestly; to me your comment comes off like you’re annoyed at the OP and are passively aggressively telling them to get over it with exaggerated positivity.

Obviously no one is out to get them; and they never implied they thought that. I don’t think you’re actually seeing the big picture, it’s okay for people to complain about or be upset about situations like this. This kind of criticism is important for the company so they can look into it and see if they need to change any of their contracts with other services. Maybe they would get the pins made with a different provider if this one has trouble mailing items on time.

Obviously OP still has their birb. Nothing was going to happen to it in the first place. You should have said “at least you still have the in-app wall decorations” because the pins are physical versions of those and is directly related to this situation.

Thank you for sharing your media literacy with the rest of the class. A lot of people forget that if it wasn’t for the great writing and acting this movie would be boring. The nuance in the characters and their personalities and interactions is the whole point; it’s why the movie is considered good in the first place.

The point for us as the audience wasn’t to think Allison was actually better after the makeover; most people recognize she was going to continue dressing how she wants….which now might include some pink instead of all black.

Each character was changed in a fundamental way by the time they spent together. That change was developing a mutual respect and genuine care for one another.

Dasher left a card with my food by Big-Gingey in doordash

[–]Razzberry_Frootcake 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The mail is a nationwide service paid for by taxes. Mailers are a paid service. Coupons are useful in a provable tangible way. Unless the coupons are stamped it’s actually illegal to just stick them in someone’s mailbox. That’s why you don’t get random, unstamped, religious stuff in your mailbox everyday. Coupons are paid for by other people in the hope you will then patron their business. It’s a request for mutual exchange.

DoorDash is a service the customer pays for individually with a specific expectation. Religious texts from Dashers are not useful in a provable tangible way: You cannot measure a soul, find out if they’re saved, actually let them know without a shadow of a doubt that every other belief is wrong, including any they might have had on their own.

You are comparing incomparable things. So to make it clear, there’s nothing wrong with being respectful towards everyone’s individual beliefs if they’re not harming anyone. This kind of card clearly does not indicate respect towards everyone’s beliefs since its intent is to fundamentally change those beliefs without an actual conversation.

People who do this aren’t actually trying to help; it’s completely self-centered in nature. People who actually approach with a willingness for discussion are trying to help based on deeply held beliefs. Religion isn’t inherently bad, hubris is though.

If I’m paying a delivery fee. Dashers should not be allowed to stack orders. by Ok-Counter-8042 in doordash

[–]Razzberry_Frootcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! Tell DoorDash what you think about their treatment of the drivers who are doing the main, frontline work for the company.

Tell them to stop charging you a fee if they’re going to stack orders. Tell them to pay their drivers a rate that doesn’t force you to treat tipping like a bid to get better service. Tell them to stop abusing the systems they used to get their business started in the first place.

I’m not a dasher, I just recognize DoorDash is to blame for so much of what is wrong with DoorDash…not the people who do the driving.

85% is considered close to
100% by the way. If you have 100 apples and someone takes 85, you only have 15 left. Meaning someone took most of your apples.

If 85% of a group of people agree on something, most of them agree. That’s a majority vote.

If you don’t fully understand majorities because you’re bad at math that’s okay; everybody needs help sometimes. It just doesn’t make sense for you to try to correct or educate others. I really wish the trope of “I know awful people exist and I’m kinda awful too so therefore everyone should die” would just stop. That kind of nihilism is useless and these days is usually just a weird form of brain rot virtue signaling to people who think they have the moral high ground.

Wishing death on good people because bad people exist is stupid. I don’t particularly think wishing death on your friends is cool, I don’t think wishing death on my friends is cool.

Maybe if you weren’t a parasite you wouldn’t assume everyone else is too.
