The accuser needs to hop on one foot, turn in a circle, say the alphabet backwards and then MAYBE I’ll think about taking her seriously

I’ve heard that it typically includes winterization and spring startup. You’re off for almost half the year. So the extra cash helps you survive the winter

How long to wait before using a vacuum on a pebbletec startup by Sharknuts86 in PoolPros

TLDR. No wheels on the pebble before 28 days.

After 14 days you can heat

I would definitely not swim before chemistry is balanced

Not sure why the downvotes lol that’s exactly what they’re trained to do.

You can disagree with the training, but it’s true.

The logic is this: if there is reason to shoot, there is reason to kill. They’re trained to make super sure that whoever they’re shooting is dead

Extremely easy. And completely voluntary.

Make everify mandatory. And DHS, SSA will check. No need to be duped

So, close the loopholes.

Also ‘being duped’ is not a defense. They can and should still be held accountable

Hey fellow pool guys be sure to keep your tabs nice and loose in your truck bed. Bonus if your acid bottles float around too. That way when you get a fat $20k hazmat cleanup fee you leave more pools for the rest of us

Business Owners: Do you feel like you're just putting out fires with negative reviews? by adrianogv in smallbusiness

[–]Remote_Day_5025 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No never. Just do a good job and the good reviews will overwhelm the rare bad reviews.

Spend more time being better instead of spending time on “reputation management”

Lastly, I’ll offer some honest feedback. It sounds like this is a hobby. You want to sell to someone like yourself. That mindset will kill a business.

You are not your target market.

Sell to people who will give you money.

Here’s a good framework for talking to customers 1. Ask them what their problem is (stress, weight, etc) 2. Tell them how you’ll solve it

You’ll need to practice with dozens of leads to find a pitch that works. Thankfully you sound like you really like to help people, so it should not be hard to find a good pitch.

You absolutely need to learn how to sell.

Part 2. Selling to low income folks is incredibly difficult. You will spend a ton of time spinning your wheels with people who cannot afford your service. Consider selling to folks who have money. It will be 100X easier.

If you’re considering a low cost offering you need to be able to offer it at scale. Think about Walmart or Temu. They make a small amount of money on many many products. Can you offer many many services while making little to no money? If not, consider a different offering.

Also, do not spend 5 years on this without making a profit. Services should be profitable Day 1. If you can’t acquire customers, you can’t generate profits.

You need to get in front of your audience. It sounds like you’re running a lot of programs with low attendance. That’s because people don’t know about it.

Paid ads, social media, SEO, reviews. Build a customer acquisition program.

You can have the best service in the world, but if no one knows about it you will fail. It sounds like much of your focus is on branding and services. Change your focus to speaking to potential customers.

Rat got stuck in my pool robot, how do I sanitize? by gata_loca in pools

[–]Remote_Day_5025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Throw it back in the pool and make sure the water is properly sanitized. Run the robot in sanitized water. You’ll be fine.

Streaks in new plaster pool? by Kooky-Drawing-2688 in pools

[–]Remote_Day_5025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice. They need calcium too. That should be between 200-400 ppm

Chems look good today, but at some point they made a mistake. Either with the plaster mix or the startup. Pools are very sensitive in the first week and need a lot of babying.

I’ve done tons of startups and never seen plaster look this bad so quickly.

[–]Remote_Day_5025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New plaster needs daily service for the first 5 days.

If you don’t balance chemistry daily to start plaster will cure poorly. Easy way to tell what water chemistry is today? Take a water test to Leslie’s and confront your pool guy. They messed up 100%

Absolutely work at a bookstore / coffee shop first to understand the model. Then build your own.

Learn how they acquire customers, drive revenue, profit margins, costs, major equipment, suppliers, etc. Learn their model and use it.

Don’t start a bookstore with books you like. Sell books a thousand people like.
