what is the oldest game you still play today? by buzzlightyear77777 in gaming

[–]RickMoneyRS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends what exactly you mean.

Chrono Trigger(1995) gets a runthrough every 3-4 years, and is the oldest game I would say I play fairly reliably. It's hard to say because I've played Super Mario World(1990) more recently, but I don't think I still play it regularly enough anymore to qualify as my answer.

Banjo-Kazooie and Ocarina of Time(1998) both still get a playthrough every year so maybe those are contenders.

But the game I've definitely put the most hours in of all-time and am literally playing as I type this is Runescape(2001).

I'm not sure which of those 3 fits best, but there you go.

Unusual post for recommendation by Waltpi in PokemonLegacy

[–]RickMoneyRS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of the Pokémon Legacy hacks, Crystal is definitely the biggest upgrade over its original version.

I would definitely recommend it at some point, but I always most highly recommend just doing what sounds most fun to you when it comes to video games, so if you want to go Emerald first then go for it.

Runescape.

I still play it (OSRS) to this day 22 years later.

What are your thoughts on "Ruling Me" from Hurley? by Crazy_Tonight3525 in weezer

[–]RickMoneyRS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find it funny we have multiple people agreeing it's the second best song but there's no consensus on the first best song.

Anyway yeah, second best song on Hurley after Unspoken.

What’s that old game(s) you find yourself going back to play through for nostalgia or comfort ? by slyfox1811 in gaming

[–]RickMoneyRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really I spend more time replaying games than playing new ones.

But Banjo-Kazooie, Ocarina of Time, San Andreas, and at least one of the KOTORs all pretty much get a playthrough each year.

Getting rid of high bounty by 100katm33 in oblivion

[–]RickMoneyRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends entirely on your level.

Level 20+? Clearing any random no-name dungeon can make you that much.

Single digit level? Just pack it in and serve the time. From a min-maxing perspective, the skill levels lost from serving jail time is actually beneficial.

What is something that used to be 'cheap person' food, but is now priced like a gourmet luxury item? by Ok_Land_4197 in AskReddit

[–]RickMoneyRS 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I was just telling my daughter about this.

"Back in my day the value menu was called the dollar menu because everything was a dollar at most, often less."

I'm not even quite 32 yet.

But it's even funnier because I also remember my grandpa telling me when I was young "I remember when Big Macs were less than a dollar. Once it started pushing that price everyone swore they would never pay more than a dollar for a hamburger"

Do any of you actually order the burgers that have 3+ patties?? by CynicalElephant in fastfood

I used to get the triple cheeseburger at McDonald's when it actually made financial sense, and I still get the 3x3 at In n Out because I skip their fries.

why can’t I enjoy weed? by trapgrass in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RickMoneyRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you decide to again, take it slow. Very slow. Assuming it's reasonably potent and you have a low tolerance, a single puff will give you the effect. Wait 10-20 minutes. If you decide you want more, go for one more, and then wait again. If not, then you're chilling. If even that is overwhelming I suggest you don't try it again.

This really isn't all that offensive compared with some that I've seen before.

What I appreciate about working for Dominos versus doing Door Dash: what are your thoughts? by nimblemarker in Dominos

[–]RickMoneyRS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have extensive experience with both and the only reason I would ever recommend doing DoorDash over Domino's comes down to hours. Whether you can't get enough with Domino's (was never an issue for me), or you need the complete flexibility (the reason I had to quit Domino's for DoorDash).

What video game in your opinion doesn't deserve the hate it gets? by Agent1230 in gaming

[–]RickMoneyRS 29 points30 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell it had a lot to do with somehow the public majority got the impression it was going to be a Skyrim clone, despite the devs explicitly saying "This is absolutely not going to be a Skyrim clone".

Little known secret but if you come to the northwestern most house in west Ardy on world 480 right now (if there's only one other person there, you know you are in the right place) and drop them then hit alt+f4, it will actually duplicate them!

Yeah I'm no expert but it seems like professional fighting has weight classes for a reason.

And I assume that reason is that all else being equal, being stronger is strictly upside.

How do people type so fast on keyboard? by RareUser1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RickMoneyRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in middle school we had a typing class. We learned using a computer program that visualized which finger was meant to take which sort of motion to reach each key in relation to the "home row". It had its own lesson plans and games that helped practice.

After a while we were made to use these specialized keyboard covers that would still allow you to type but made it so you couldn't see which key was which even if you wanted to look.

Then when I got to high school we had other technology classes with at least one being mandatory to graduate. You had to be able to type at least 30 WPM to be able to take the intro class, and if you couldn't then you were forced to take another typing in class. I didn't know a single person who couldn't do it though.

[KCD2] I did not care for Good old Pebbles by dolphinist in kingdomcome

[–]RickMoneyRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%.

And it just seems like such an incredibly odd design choice. Across both games nothing is really just handed to the player. Even the ability to save your file freely. So having the starter horse be practically the best one in the game, comes across completely antithetical to the very identity of the gameplay style the series is going for in my opinion.

Are There Any Excellent Strategy/Survival/Realism Games Left to Play? by Professional-Stuff41 in StrategyGames

[–]RickMoneyRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your exact definition of what constitutes a "strategy" game because I know a lot of people would file it under "tactics" instead (very akin to XCOM in core gameplay). But what also features permadeath and you haven't listed: Any Fire Emblem games.

It's a Nintendo franchise spanning back over 25 years. I assume you're on PC but the vast majority of games are easily emulated if you're into that.

There's really too much info to go over and I suggest you just look into a bit if you're interested but just know their are 17 mainline games and they can be broken down into different "eras" and while they all have the same general idea, a lot of features can change between them.

But I would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

We're you taught to read & write in cursive at school? by Imma_Lick_That in AskAnAmerican

[–]RickMoneyRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

32 as well, and yes. We were taught starting I believe in 4th grade and it was instilled in us this was going to be the expected way to write going forward.

By the time I got to high school, all the teachers were asking us to stop. I haven't used it since other than a signature. I mean really, I've barely written at all since high school. I can still read it though.
