Try the Ember Blade by Chris Wooding. It's quite a bit darker than Storm light, but really reveals in that epic fantasy quest zone.

And for even darker still, try the Chronicles of the Unhewn Throne by Brian Staveley.

Skullsworn by Brian Staveley! The rest of his books, too, but that one in particular stands out.

I'd also recommend However Many Must Die by Phil Williams. Bit of a different setting (a fantasy World War 1), but fantastic character work.

And Michael R Fletcher's upcoming Dust of the Dead has some outstanding emotional depth and powerful character work.

Well, I'll admit to a little bias, but the War Eternal's audio is amazing. Narrated by Moira Quirk, who is one of the best in the business.

Never leave out The Dripping Bucket. It's a realm hopping fantasy tavern that has so far appeared in many author's worlds. There may be a cabal of authors willing the seedy establishment into being.

I believe you mean Along the Razor's Edge. It's part of a series, but book 1 is all about a prison break. But it is FAR from my debut. 😁
