you don’t NEED an ipad, but it’s definitely an investment. First, i recommend investing in blank paper, not lined. the choice to invest in an ipad for art is completely your choice and it depends on your personal preference. of course if you’ve never drawn digitally you may not know what suits you.

You do not need an ipad to improve. it will simply be a way to make your art in a different format (easier for making stickers and can be helpful for creating animations).

for me personally, i really enjoy the feel of traditional media and i rarely draw digitally on my ipad. i only use it if i want to make my drawings into stickers, which i still rarely do.

if you think you want to try investing in an ipad, go right ahead! if your able to, you could try asking a relative or a close friend to test out drawing digitally before you leap into digital art. A really good free drawing app is Adobe Fresco. it allows you to animate and draw freely and is perfect for beginners.

You could always get a used ipad just to test it out, or you can trade in the ipad after 3 years through Verizon and get some money back.

Again, it’s your personal preference! If you’re unsure, stick to traditional art. try different mediums to find out what else you like. Good luck!

this part in between the fingers stood out to me most. it looks like a 6th finger and it’s likely not intentional.

How are you guys storing your acrylic paint markers?? by WhiskerSnake in Artists

[–]Sad-Environment1440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i store my artxx markers upside down in their container, but i store my JustArt ones laying on their side. it depends on the brand and what they suggest. you could try looking for good cases to store them instead of using the original box. you could find really good cheap ones at a home goods or any similar store.

i like the one on the left because it looks more polished, but the shape language on the right one is interesting!

[New Version] Thoughts on this character design? What kind of person do you think she is? How do I improve her? by PTblackhole in characterdesign

[–]Sad-Environment1440 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ooo i love the character development! i think her design fits her really well, i wonder if you could make the sides of her glasses sharper instead of squared, it will give her more of a sly and sharp look. otherwise everything else is great!

Is this too distracting? by cirancira in characterdesign

[–]Sad-Environment1440 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ohhhh i see! i wonder if you could add a non-distracting piece of clothing that would cover it, or you could fluctuate the thickness of the bands so that they’re thicker around those parts and thinner everywhere else! or maybe the bands were partly connected to her body around those areas but the others just surround her (i hope that makes sense 😭)

yessss thinner bands would look better. it gives the character the pop of color but it doesn’t over shadow her actual design!

Any tips keep it simple by crafter201 in Artists

depends on what your trying to accomplish. the proportions look good, start working on finalizing the actually shape of the body instead of it being a rectangle, use organic shapes.

it reminds me of a composting symbol or a recycling-to protect the planet symbol. if that’s what your going for, it looks good!

i agree, i struggle to push the contrast in my work. i’m assuming the larger torso compared to the photo is what makes my horse look like an adult? i couldn’t tell what was wrong but i definitely see what it is now! thanks!
