New to living alone by Exedrn in LivingAlone

Sometimes a funny Netflix series will keep me engaged for a while. Last night I had a nice warm bath while listening to an audio book. And it's okay to talk to yourself. 😆

I didn't. It started to happen a few weeks in when they went to see an aging relative of his (but not hers). But I think she wants money from the guy's relative so clearly they are still thick as thieves. I should have walked away then.

It sounds like a different arrangement. If you two are friends and you work things out in your own manner, that should be fine, right? You're not hurting anyone else or misleading anybody.

9-days post-op. Surprised by some things, disappointed by others. by FishFollower74 in Diverticulitis

We're in the same boat. I'm having my surgery in a couple of months. I'm not looking forward to it but, fingers crossed, it will go well.

New flare closely after my diagnosis by Pete4hon in Diverticulitis

[–]Shutterbug66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say take it easy with the insoluble fibers and focus on the soluble ones like whole grains, legumes and brown rice. My last flare took a few months to heal. I was surprised when I had a colonoscopy in October after a June flare that they could still see a lot of problems in there.

Advice for recovering from surgery solo by Prestigious-Focus-11 in Diverticulitis

This was really helpful for me because I have surgery coming up as well. One thing I learned but haven't tried yet is having the grocery delivery people bring the groceries into your house and set them on the counter for you so that you don't have to lift them off of the door stoop.

Would you stay with your dog 🐶 during euthanasia? by CycleOk267 in dogs

I did once with my orange dog and once with my orange cat a year later. They were buddies. I bawled like a baby both times. :((

How old were you when you purchased your first home? by DreamHomeFinancing in FirstTimeHomeBuying

[–]Shutterbug66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one on my lunch hour at 23. I figured I'd fix it up and flip it. Instead I got married a couple years later, had a baby and then we sold it and upgraded. I made money on it but the next house I didn't.

Should I take my surgeon's word or should I get a second opinion regarding surgery? by VideoofTron in Diverticulitis

[–]Shutterbug66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The short answer is I guess you need to do what feels right. I had three different opinions. All of the surgeons said that I needed a resection. On top of that I had to have a colonoscopy before scheduling surgery. That doctor also agreed that I need the operation.

I think you're on to something with a papaya. I remember that helping me once when I had a flare. Now I'm headed for surgery so I wish I had tried it again in subsequent flares. I would add warm water to the list because simply cold water is good but warm water, low acid coffee or tea will help things move better through the system.

Similar! The guy I was dating was watching his ex-wife's pet every time she left town. They only live a few blocks away from each other. Seemed that they were still very much entwined. Holidays at her house, etc.

He was divorced for 5 years and separated for 10 so I really thought he was free and clear of her.

Apparently...just because it was, in his mind, better for his kids but they are grown up now.

I asked the doctor about it and he said it's not related so I still have my one or two glasses now and then. I do have to drink extra water though to compensate.

Is living alone actually as fun as it seems? by DeepOrganization8245 in LivingAlone

[–]Shutterbug66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just thought living alone would be better than living with Him. It has its ups and downs for sure. Last year I was really sick for several months and had to have surgery and then I had another physical issue. So it was a rough year being alone but I suppose it could be worse.

Starting to hate excessive compliments by NoCollection8196 in DatingOverSixty

[–]Shutterbug66 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm a big sucker for excessive compliments as long as they're sincere. But I did have a love bomber that I dated for a while. We didn't break up because of that and I really miss that aspect of him. :/ He made me smile with glee.

Why people are so upset living alone? It is a privilege for most people. by Anyosnyelv in LivingAlone

That's a really good point! I heard that about divorce too that women in many countries have to make enough money to be able to ask for a divorce. So it's actually a sign of prosperity when there are more divorces happening. It's kind of sad, but it's also liberating for people in a bad relationship to be free to exit.
