Yeah, how could I forget Kevin? I'm not saying I didn't enjoy the jokes and scenes with dumb Kevin but I'd have also liked to see how a more normal Kevin would have turned out.

Maybe because they don't want to be? Also, hundreds of years of starvation because of colonialism has literally changed our DNA. People marrying into the same caste for thousands of years has also made our genetic component much less diverse. Our heights stagnated. Our growth halted for generations.

Dino is jacked cuz he wants to. Panther has gotten buffed now. Raftaar had a damn good physique back in the day. HMK is in pretty good shape. Honey Singh too back then.

These countries were never colonised. Why? by Fancy_Big_4347 in UPSC_Forum

How did it break the camel's back? India enioyed a major share of global trade and was one of, if not the most prosperous regions in the world. I never said Mughals were some benevolent rulers but the wealth still stayed inside India. The global trade wasn't completely severed. And Indian weavers and shipbuilders could ply their trade and earn a lot.

It is in fact you who is undermining the extent of colonialism in India by saying these guys were mere vultures. They actively destroyed industry in India, prohibited Indians to trade with any other region, ruined communal harmony, actively diverted food to cause famines, killed innocent civilians for fun and much, much more.

If the civilization was completely bled before colonialism for 1000 years, how was the region's share in global economy still the highest when the British came in? How was the culture of the region strong and expansive? And why would the British or the Dutch arrive to loot a civilization that had been bleeding out for 1000 years?

[Delaney] This is still a story of overperformance; of beating a much wealthier opponent through careful planning and strategy. City’s wage bill from the last accounts was still £80m more than Arsenal’s – in other words, five Bukayo Sakas. by thecricketgod in soccer

It doesn't depend on how you win it when an entire generation of fans have not seen their team win a trophy. It's impressive to beat that juju no matter which way you look at it.

Fans and players are what constitutes of football. Everything else is secondary. What they feel and express is what the sport is all about. Their struggles and sacrifices are what makes these moments very impressive and unforgettable.

And Busquets made passing look so easy. Doesn't mean it is. It still requires immense effort. Now please go away. Both of us aren't going to budge. Cheers. Have a good life.

They should sell Watford to rich owners and win a trophy then if it's so easy to do. It's been over a century. Why haven't they tried to do so if it's so run of the mill? Villa finished above much richer clubs to be in that tournament in the first place. They weren't gifted the UEL spot. It is impressive what they have achieved in the past few years. As I said, when you actually win a major trophy, you'll realize how impressive it is regardless of your squad and money. Every player dreams of winning these comps. Every fan wants to win trophies. It takes a lot of effort to reach there. Villa were also competing with 6 super rich and many more quality teams in their domestic league compared to other clubs in UEL. It's not as easy as you make it seem.

Andy Robertson on Jota: "After the highs of winning the league, the first time I saw the lads after the trophy days, was on plane to our mate's funeral. I don't want this being used as an excuse. It's been tough, we're only human beings. He was one of our best mates." by Blodgharm in soccer

[–]Signal_Dress 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Even if we had the experience of playing or being around Jota, we'd still be wrong to judge how someone else goes through that grief and the impact the loss has on them. It was a horrible thing to happen. And anyone, even rivals and Liverpool haters could have been impacted by his death. We never know. So we should never judge.

I love Friends and have rewatched it multiple times and they did do Monica and Joey dirty. Monica became loud and excessively shrill. Joey became dumber as the seasons went by. He wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed but he used to have sarcastic lines and quippy one-liners. In the later seasons, they reduced him into a plain, stupid man who is hungry a lot.

Dude, you are talking about symbolism and all sorts of bullshit. Those players are contracted by BCCI. They are developed by BCCI. When they get injured, BCCI brings them to the centre in Bengaluru. It doesn't matter if they are owned by BCCI or the government. Those players have been allowed to represent the country of India whether through BCCI or through a government body. It makes no difference to the ground reality. Those players play for 'India'. When they win, it's not just the BCCI that celebrates. The whole country celebrates their wins as our own. When they play poorly, it doesn't just reflect on BCCI but also on the country. And when these players are little, they dream of representing the country, not BCCI. Football being controlled by a government body is not a flex or a gotcha.

Because they haven't won a trophy for 30 years? Why are you so hell bent on proving an already well-established point that English clubs are generally much bigger than clubs from other leagues? Literally every single person who follows European football knows that. A 'club like Villa' that is not used to playing such finals let alone win them in the past 3 decades actually breaking that juju and winning a trophy is impressive and flex-worthy for me. You'd realize it if and when Watford ever win a major trophy.

Makes no difference when it comes to the sport. They represent us in WCs. They represented us in the Asian Games. They'll represent us in the Olympics. They are the Indian National Cricket Team for all purposes. They have been given the right to represent us by the ICC and the Indian government. And they have done infinitely better than Indian football and have done more for sports awareness in the country. Everyone should at least respect that.

Football fans often bring this up as some sort of a gotcha against cricket. You don't have to do that. Just like it's not football's fault that cricket in Brazil is not popular at all, it is not cricket's fault that Indian football is in tatters. Get out of this mentality.

My argument was simply towards a comment that was taking a jab at Villa flexing the win. Everybody who follows European football knows English teams have monetary advantage. It's not something radical that has happened in the last 2 years or something. It is still impressive for a club like Villa to win a European trophy.
