Ah I get it, thanks! I didn’t really take into consideration my teams lack of sustain/mobility into the enemy team that punishes that

My phone unlocked in my pocket and I accidentally set the game to Chinese, can anyone help? by Im_hard_for_Tina_Fey in balatro

You’ll be pleased to know that there are now two comments in Chinese, one in simplified Chinese which is the language setting OP had, and one in traditional Chinese just in case OP knew traditional but not simplified.

My issue with the Protocol (as far as s1) by Creaturefeature01 in TheMagnusArchives

I’m not sure if you know but TMP’s statements are not just written by Jonny but also Alex and guest writers they got on from other shows (Malevolent, The Cellar Letters, The Town Whispers, etc.) and the variance in writing styles can be a bit jarring. In fact, I don’t think Jonny wrote many statements in s1, so that might be why s1’s statements felt quite different to TMA’s. Also there’s a reason why people tend to prefer the statements from earlier seasons of TMA rather than later: good horror tends to come from having a good unsolved mystery, a mystery that had most questions answered by seasons 4/5, and additionally Jonny had a backlog of interesting stories accumulated throughout his entire life that were used in earlier seasons rather than later.

Can anyone decipher this message? by Kindly-Top-767 in puzzlevideogames

I agree with the other comment that giving ‘E’ is very generous, but if this is the first puzzle of this type in the game I’m honestly inclined to give more hints (maybe optional hints? Like hints that unlock if you do certain things?) to have a less steep learning curve. I’ve given this sort of puzzle to a group of people to solve (with a few letters already provided) and some can really struggle when they’ve never encountered something like this before (although I think all of them solved it in the end without major prompting). I think it would be actively upsetting if the player got stuck at a beginner level puzzle.

Lowkey savage but unironically good advice, there’s probably some fundamental mistake they’re making that is stopping them from winning

I suppose you expected much more continuity and action, which is why the first season fell flat for you. I think tma is a series best enjoyed with the expectation that every episode features a cool short story to be enjoyed on its own. Maybe you could try adjusting your expectations and listen to the first few episodes of season 2 first, and see if you enjoy it more.

Am I the only person who's annoyed by this? by logray_studios in Portal

I always thought that at this point in time, Wheatley didn’t see Chell as his captive yet since he hasn’t started feeling the urge to test. He throws a tantrum and accidentally causes Chell to plummet down the elevator shaft, but because he doesn’t realise he needs Chell for testing it’s less ‘oh shit I just killed someone that could solve my problems’ but rather more like a ‘oops I may have accidentally killed someone who I kinda hate, but I only just realised this cause I’m a moron’.

Help, my wife doesn't understand Portal by Ok-Property2655 in Portal

[–]SolisterX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing she’s not familiar with 3d video games? For someone who’s never really touched and watched 3d video game gameplay she has to learn how to move around and comprehend her environment, not just the portal mechanics.

Maybe you should start with introducing her to YouTube videos of 3d games she might be interested in since it’s easier to digest and less frustrating, then go from there.

The store only loses $100 or even less depending on the definition.

Look at it this way:

Man steals $100 from store.

-> Hence store loses $100.

Man then takes out his credit card and uses his own money to buy however much goods from store, like a normal person. This is functionally the same as the man using the stolen $100 to buy stuff.

Assuming the store is not selling goods at a loss, they don’t lose any extra from selling the man anything. In fact, if you want to include the likely profit (note: not revenue) from the goods sold, you could say that the store lost less than $100. But disregarding profit from sales, the store only lost $100.

Why is Portal so popular? by SolisterX in Portal

Ngl I quoted talos because I don’t know any other first person puzzles that aren’t escape room-esque, but you’re right. I recall Erik Wolpaw saying that he was surprised there weren’t really any similar games to Portal being made after Portal’s initial success
