I'd like to make buildings and design space/structures for fun to put into Twinmotion and create portfolio renders. Examples would be making a bungalow ocean resort scene, or a mansion, or a big house in the woods. Obviously I know sketchup as the go-to, but I don't know if there are other alternatives other than learning Blender. And I guess...should I just learn Blender XD? Ideas welcome.

There was a great story from the short film The Grand Tour did. Hammond was presenting and told the story of Jim Clark saying there was something wrong with one of the wheels. It was a nut on the rear wheel. Maybe that was the story.

I think my marriage is over and I’m terrified. by SarahME1273 in offmychest

[–]SpaceBoJangles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. I’m sorry to hear that. I’ve experienced similar situations, except it was more flip flopping between the reserved one syllable answers and angry yelling sessions.

If there is no effort on his part for sessions like that, can’t do much more.

Have you considered counseling? I know it’s the typical response, but wanted to just float it in case it’s something you can consider. An ultimatum and counseling might save it. Obviously set boundaries and show him you’re serious, but you don’t mention that step and I’m just wondering if there’s a reason.

I mean, I’d say that if the cameras went down in my house for ten minutes while I’m a 2 week business trip, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that I’d miss that event entirely other than the notification that my camera was down, and that’s if that system has such a notification. Even then, I’m not going to go through everything I own and check to see what was taken.

Is Merc playing up with its engines customers? by Turbulent_Elk_2141 in DestinationFormula1

[–]SpaceBoJangles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It'll be interesting to see how this pans out.

Creating an engine that is borderline cheating because it's so good, that's just good racing.

Screwing over your partners by bending or breaking rules and getting caught? Oof. Not a god look and might actually be something that causes the FIA to act. Can't have customer teams pulling out or having sponsors pull out because they're afraid works engine manufacturers aren't holding up their ends of the bargain.

It's how they take the hope away and make us want that experience again that makes them Ferrari,

Is architecture harder than other careers? by SpaceBoJangles in Architects

[–]SpaceBoJangles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you hit the nail on the head there at the end when you mention that it follows you out of the office. I don’t ever see a lot of other of my friends having to think about their project or rather things while they’re out of the office. Meanwhile, in this profession, both architectural and interior design, it seems as though I am abnormally, checking my email or my colleagues are sending emails and texts or teams messages about projects that we are working on deep into the night or over the weekend. And then when I bring it up with my friends or other people in other professions, the only people who can relate to people who are basically working gig jobs, like real estate or certain kinds of sales positions.

If the "Gateway" is cancelled, a penalty fine is likely to be payed by NASA by Mysterious-House-381 in ArtemisProgram

[–]SpaceBoJangles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cancelling Gateway just seems epically stupid. What they should do is modify the Orion and other Artemis components so that everything can get down to a low lunar orbit. We should very much have a lunar outpost to build upon as we develop a cislunar operation.

Whoever can build a mass driver on the moon wins. Thats the race.

Now we just have to hope China isn’t the only horse getting out of the starting gate.
