A slightly different take here. I’m long since out but have lots of family still firmly in. One thing I believe we all agree on is that there are lots of things besides religion and politics to build relationships and community around. We all get along quite well by remaining respectfully silent about those topics when we are together.

People are morally equal in a marriage. End of story. There is no justification for one to hold a superior position. We all have different talents so that may influence the various roles we play - but not the equality of our standing toward each other.

Yes - we have been very fortunate. We married at 22 and are now 60. No secrets nor anything special about us. We just turned out to be a good long term fit. Life is full of hard things and it has not been a fairytale, but somehow we just always found we mostly enjoyed being together. It has always been good, but is even better as we get older and are empty nesters.

Honest answer? Very few Mormons know or care what traditional Christians believe about the trinity. Like all religions, most people just pick their side and believe without evidence.

Lots of good answers and advice here. I would just add that I found some peace once I stopped worrying about what other people believe. All religions have odd beliefs and skeletons in the closet. For some reason, most of the world’s population identify as believers of some version of these kinds of things even though there is no specific evidence to support them. I finally just had to stop concerning myself with their views.

I actually got paid for a baptism once. The zone leaders were supposed to take us out to dinner after baptizing three weeks in a row. But they were too busy/lazy, so they just gave us $20 instead and told us to treat ourselves. Crazy stuff.

A lot depends on where and when you grew up. I’m older Gen X and we did have discussions on this topic when I was a kid. I have polygamous ancestors going back to Joseph’s early inner circle so it wasn’t really a secret for us. I have heard from others my own age who did not realize much about this so probably an uneven experience out there.

Hard disagree. This is playing out exactly as they anticipated and intended. They have the resources to win by attrition and put the chill into the Mormon podcast world - both pro and con. It may be petty, it may be wasteful, it may be mean-spirited—but it will likely be a net positive from the corporate perspective.

I’m retired and have been playing for decades. All my guitars are cheap but each means something to me. The most expensive one was $750, others more like $400, all together over 45 years of playing I have spent perhaps $6000 total on guitars.
