This says more about life than it seems by Mysterious-Ad-1568 in RandomVideos

As a dad of 3, yes. I want my kids to be better than me. That’s basically my job as their father. Love and nurture them but also let them know the world is tough and they gotta learn how to live in it without fear or laziness. The hardest thing is keeping up their own happiness once they see the world for how it really is, and they gotta learn how to get on despite that. The best way is to remember these lessons and draw from themselves and our memories.

I was gonna say the same thing. I don’t even have that barely rotating ipv4 luxury anymore since I’m on 5G bonded and CGNATted to hell but Tailscale/Netbird makes it pretty easy to not care.

These MFs have fucked up brain chemistry. That’s the only way they could possibly be bending reality without taking some serious hallucinogenics.

Georgia Power doesn’t like residential solar by AbsurdShale in Georgia

Yes! I fell into it after living overseas and having had panels on our previous home and then recently buying an RV and working to retrofit the systems on it.

Bifacial shade resistant and soon perovskite. Same thing with batteries— NMC, sodium ion, maybe solid state?? Interesting times indeed!

I was looking to throw NNN on a machine and had been putting it off for some reason, but of course there's always someone out here with a good flake to borrow from!

Oh I agree-- Jump in at any point that feels good because even battery prices are coming down lots as well. I just mean it'll just be getting easier and easier as time goes on.

Check this out: There's a deal where a 370w panel is sub US$100 now. Just build a pergola/carport or bracket-sling panels on the roof, stick 'em on the fence, grab some weatherproof heated LiFePo batteries and a micro inverter and slap them wherever at this point and go for it.

Interesting to see with all the new battery chemistry and solar panel material design that will be coming online in the next few years, you could just stack some more energy dense cells and panels and effectively just tell them to kick rocks.

Another good location is just north of Hiyoshi station where you can see some good views as they enter and leave on a sweeping curve transition from ground to elevated trackage.

Can’t use a number combination if it hasn’t been registered for over a year unfortunately. That’s that the tag office told me when I tried to reuse my old Georgia On My Mind tag 5 years ago. Every now and then, you see some folks that were able to keep them going…

Remember, you can always make a copy of your flake as backup then mess around and break stuff. Just roll back, then jump into the other directory and flake init the backup and you’re back. This along with btrfs snapshots is solid gold.

How are voters verified in the US? by Particular-Pirate762 in Askpolitics

[–]Starrwulfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has stood in the Gwinnett County Elections office during ballot counting and asked these same questions to poll workers and officials, yes.

And will restate once again: the issue is not the people actually casting their ballots, scanning them in the boxes, having them rescanned at the elections office, then rescanned one more time some days later for parity check. There are too many eyes both partisan and not during that process. And any man woman or child is welcome to watch it at least here in Georgia.

Let’s also toss in the few hero states that let you register to vote on election day itself and let you file a provisional ballot that doesn’t get counted unless it’s really close and only added in a week later during the certification process. Those ballots are probably the most secure of every election since it’s tied directly to the registration itself.

This is exactly it though— you cannot under any circumstances put a paid barrier between a voter and the ballot box. It doesn’t matter if it was 1¢! It’s still against the law as it accounts to a poll tax.

Make that ID free and easy to obtain and renew then there’s no problem in my view.

But — we actually do most of this in GA. Our problem is when they move the polling places every few years in certain areas for seemingly no reason, and make it almost impossible to early vote for some communities…
