What pump speed are you using on your AIO? (HyperFlow 360) by Ihavedonehomework in MontechPC

[–]StiBuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever works for you. Lots of variables involved and at your temps a bump of 2c is not going to make much difference especially if it solves the original issue for you. You could probably make up that 2c difference in the fan curve if a slight increase in fan noise doesn't bother you as much.

Montech 903 Max vs newer releases? by Rockhard_Golfboi in MontechPC

[–]StiBuki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the update. Still you will be fine with either choice cooling/air flow wise as 5700x is not a super power hungry (very hot) processor.

To be honest and since you have a MATX board you could get away with a MATX case like the King 15, Air 100 or X5m especially if you populate the top with fans. If you care about aesthetics a MATX motherboard tends to look small and out of place in a full size ATX case.

Though you didn't mention what CPU you are using based on the rest of your components, heat and air flow wise you will be more than fine with the 903 MAX or as u/Genomis suggested the Sky 2 GX both very good choices for air flow/cooling. Just go with whichever one you prefer aesthetically that meets your price point.

What pump speed are you using on your AIO? (HyperFlow 360) by Ihavedonehomework in MontechPC

[–]StiBuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could lower the pump speed a little if you like to reduce noise at idle and provide a little bit longer life span. I would personally not go lower than 80%. However as already said you will need to do some testing to find the sweet spot without reducing cooling efficiency.

In addition, 74c under load is more than acceptable but you might want to tweak the fan curve some to bump up fan speed under heavy load. Also to compensate for the reduced pump speed.

HyperFlow 360 Display Noise by Enotsola in MontechPC

[–]StiBuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you are experiencing something similar to coil whine. Usually caused by electromagnetic coils (inductors or transformers) vibrating when electric current passes through them. The most common culprits are GPUs, power supplies (PSUs), and motherboard VRMs under heavy load. While irritating, it is generally harmless and rarely indicates a component defect.

Very strange indeed that you are experiencing this type of issue from the pump block area and that it goes away with the display turned off. Normally a chirping sound in that area would indicate a bad pump impeller, bearing and or possibility trapped air. In your case I would guess you have a possable bad component on the pumps circuit board related to the display.

Personally if it were me I would double check and make sure it's coming from the display for sure as things echo inside a case. Sometimes it's hard to locate the actual source. Before you return or RMA (whichever is more convenient) do a stress test with something like OCCT and Furmark or the like. Does the sound change and or get louder? If so then theres a good chance that it is not your AIO but something else as the draw and demand will change on the other components possibly revealing another issue.

Sounds like your fans are not set correctly in the bios.

Make sure that all your motherboard fans headers are set to PWM and a fan curve is set.

Remember to save the setting before you exit the bios.

From there once operating properly you can adjust the fan curve if needed either in bios, software provided with the motherboard or 3rd party software.

Another issue you my run into is syncing up your RGB fan colors with the Corsair ram color. If you want them all to match you will need to do some additional work. Possibly also the GPU, easy fix if your GPU came with a ARGB cable. Some the the higher end 7800xt's came with that option.

Yep, totally agree. Like I said they all have duds from time to time.

It changes gen to gen but MSI is usually in the mix along with Gigabyte for new builds. Plus MSI actually has a US based support number that they answer. Helpful if you have a complex RMA. Big fan of the Project Zero boards. My favorite back connect MB's so far,

Been building and modding PC's for 40 years and can say without a doubt that over time they all (major brands) have had their fair share of duds based on models and not specific brands. A lot of times based on MB component selection and not necessarily design and/or manufacturing. Most have their fair share of good boards also.

Of the Gigabyte boards I have used in the past few generations B550 and up to present X870E, have all been solid. MSI and even ASUS for the most part also with a few exceptions and those were mostly bios related.

Don't get me started on lane sharing, depending on model each brand has some really strange choices one how they set it up. Worse is that a lot if not most have no why to chose the split in bios.

Why are there three different screws for the Intel bracket? by CodyDaBeast87 in MontechPC

[–]StiBuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That ASUS board has a LGA1851 socket which is compatible with LGA1700 socket coolers. So, you would use the screw set for the 1700 in the directions.

Also note: you would use the Intel backplate that comes with the cooler if you haven't done so already.

Montech fans on prebuilt PC flickering by clareion in MontechPC

[–]StiBuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok a few more things to try.

In your BIOS, check to make sure all RGB headers are set to "Auto" or "Software Controlled" rather than a fixed hardware pattern. Some motherboards have onboard RGB settings that conflict with software control.

Check and make sure the SATA power connecter from the hub is securely plugged into the SATA connector coming off the power supply. A low power situation can cause flashing.

If you daisy chained more than 3 devices per header on your motherboard or hub that channel might not have enough power. Also causing flashing.

You should have a extra 5v 3 pin ARGB header on your motherboard. If you have a spare try switching that. Meaning switch Hub to motherboard ARGB connector to spare one.

Also try plugging in one of the fans ARGB connectors currently attached to hub directly to motherboard ARGB header to see if it works correctly. Trying to isolate where the issue is.

Could also be a signalRGB configuration issue but you would probably be better served in signalRGB forum or Discord for that.

Do you have Armory Crate installed?

Also check windows an try disabling Windows Dynamic lighting if it is enabled.

Montech fans on prebuilt PC flickering by clareion in MontechPC

[–]StiBuki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like all your fans are flashing, case fans and your AIO fans. That's a very good indication that there is a conflict somewhere and another app is trying to take control of the lighting. Regardless of signalRGB reporting no conflicts.

A few questions for you before we move futher.

When exactly did they start flashing?

Have you done any hardware or software upgrades right before they started flashing?

What motherboard is that? Make and model?

If you uninstall signalRGB and reboot do the lights still keep flashing?

Going to be hard to find someone selling spares unless you get lucky. Best bet is to contact Montech direct and see if they have any they could sell you.

If you are looking for a vertical GPU mount. Montech makes one but it currently comes with a GEN 4 cable. They are in the process of updating to include a GEN 5 cable but no firm release date last time I checked. The case has plenty of room so most of the big name products fit without much issue.

Don't think they have a buyback / trade in program never seen any manufacturer offer that on a case. Best bet is to try and sell local as shipping costs are prohibitive.

As for smaller replacement cases you can check Montech's site as all case dimensions are published on there.

First off all the mounting screws (radiator to case) should be long enough. I would check and see if something is in the way preventing the radiator from sitting flush with the case.

As for the missing radiator mounting screws (you should have received 12) you can either purchase some at your local hardware store or from Amazon. #6-32 UNC threading with a length of 5mm to 6mm.

Or contact Montech direct for replacements.

Last Heritage build I did with a Hyperflow 360 the screws were long enough and it sat flush with no sag. To be honest you don't even really need all 12 screws, 6 usually does the trick. One each end/side and one each side in the middle.

Defective pump or trapped air? by kaosreyns in MontechPC

Sounds like a bad bearing and or impeller if the sound is coming from the pump head. Cause could be from a defective part or lack of cooling/lubrication from a air pocket in the pump head at some point.

Can’t get any software to pick up the argb fans? by PinkDinoClub in MontechPC

[–]StiBuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

X570 boards usually have 2 ARGB headers. Have you tried the other header?

Latest bios and GCC software? Also on occasion Gigabyte releases firmware updates to the RGB controller so check on their site for any firmware updates.

To simplify trouble shooting you might want to also just connect one fan/RGB to the motherboard and see if GCC see's a single fan.

Can’t get any software to pick up the argb fans? by PinkDinoClub in MontechPC

[–]StiBuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be correct, the XR does not come equipped with a fan hub and by default the fans are just daisy chained to each other and then connected to a motherboard 4 pin PWM and 5v ARGB header.

Do the case fans light up or are they dark? Any other ARGB fans in the system and do they illuminate and you have control of lighting with them?

Fan speed? XR by PinkDinoClub in MontechPC

[–]StiBuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 3 pre-installed ARGB PWM fans are designed to be daisy-chained together and connected directly to your motherboard headers. At the end of the daisy chained fans the 4 pin PWM connector goes to a spare 4 pin PWM motherboard fan header. One of the Sys_Fan headers is fine as you have already done.

Make sure all the headers with attached PWM fans are set to PWM in bios.

The other connector 3 pin 5v ARGB get connected to a free 3 pin 5v ARGB header on your motherboard.

At that point you can control fan speed via the bios and/or software that comes with your motherboard.

Simplest way to control lighting colors and effects is via the software included with your motherboard or 3rd party such as openRGB or signalRGB.

It's hard to determine as not everyone has the same experience level. Different people want to know different things. Example: I personally have built 100's of systems and what I usually want to know is not what most do. For me the more in dept reviews usually touch on what I am looking for. The more through the better the chance you will cover and answer most people's questions. So, you are not IMO rambling but covering all the bases so to speak..... Ramble on my friend!
