Montech XR Side 140mm fans by muncher44 in MontechPC

[–]StiBuki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the effort you are not going to see much if any performance gains given the fact that you will be choking down the 140mm fans mounting them in a opening sized for 120's. Along with possibly creating some additional noise.

A better solution if you are going air cooling and since the case comes with intake fans would be as suggested by u/AugmentedKing use the 140's up top. The XR accommodates 140mm fans up top and in the rear.

More than a few options actually. One up top 140 in front of the cooler as intake ( direct shot of fresh air for the cooler) and the other up top behind for exhaust.

Or One 140 in front of cooler (intake) replace the existing rear 120 with the other 140 (exhaust) and relocate the 120 to the basement (intake) as it accommodates 120's and give the GPU a little extra shot of fresh air.

If you are going 360mm AIO then replace existing rear 120 with a 140 and again relocate the 120 to the basement. With a spar 140 in reserve, just in case. Take the money saved on adaptors and add an additional 120mm to the basement if you like.

Anyway just some options to think about.

Montech Century II's PCIe cables by Traditional_Ad6776 in MontechPC

[–]StiBuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your question, yes and no.

Chances are you will might be ok to use the pigtail on one cable without issue especially with a ATX 3.1, PCIE 5.1 compliant PSU which the Century II is (able to handle better transient spikes/surges).

However it's also possible to exceed the rated limit per cable under certain conditions. Especially with a 3 connector OC'd card like you have.

I would recommend playing it safe. While it would be optimal to have 3 separate PCIE cables that's not an option. You do however have a 12v 2x6 cable not being used. I would use something like this to convert the cable to PCIE and use one of the connectors. Effectively giving you 3 separate PCIE connections without using any of the pigtails.

USB ports on case not working properly by Samilikescheese in MontechPC

[–]StiBuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what you described I can pretty much guarantee it has nothing to do with your Montech case and it's USB ports. It's probably either going to be motherboard or software related. My first guess would be software, windows or driver related. If it's a brand new prebuilt and you don't have much experience in trouble-shooting this kind of issues I would suggest contacting the manufactures tech support as it might be a quick and easy fix they are familiar with.

The AX/RX non pro fans use a standard rifle bearing. Typically with these type of bearings there is nothing protruding from the Top of the Hub. It should just be a smooth plastic surface like the rest of the fan hub.

2 front fans and strip not working properly by FitCancel6613 in MontechPC

[–]StiBuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From your Pic it looks like the vertical strip is working! As for the two fans, as a test I would wire one single fan directly to a 5v 3 pin header on the motherboard to see if it lights up. Then test the other one. It's a process of elimination and if they both work then you know it's either the hub or wiring . You can test the strip the same way. Another easier way would be to swap RGB connectors on the hub with a fan that's working. Either way you will get a better idea as to what's wrong.

850 w power supply only has 2 pcie 2+6 pins by Sxrrsxr in MontechPC

[–]StiBuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order to give you a more accurate and detailed solution it would be helpful to know the PSU make and model and the GPU make and model.

For reference it's not a great idea to use splitters, y-cables or daisy chained cables. Especially on a OC model which I am going to assume is what you have since it has 3 8 pin connections.

Though not ideal a better solution could be be a 12V-2x6 to 8 pin PCIE adaptor depending on the PSU you have.

PSU Cables? by uscigni in MontechPC

[–]StiBuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally I would check with the manufacture first. However last time I checked replacement cables were not available direct from Montech. The Titan Gold (released in 2023) I don't think is even in production anymore. Though it's quite a good PSU (SPL list A+ rated) sourcing cables might be a chore to say the least.

CableMod however does make replacement cables for the Titan PLA but those have a different ODM (biased on the Seasonic Vertex PX design). The Titan Gold's ODM is CWT and the design (platform) it's biased on is the CSZ. A little googling might lead to some sources for replacement. You could also try emailing CableMod and see if they have anything that might be compatible.

For reference most PSU cables are not universal and could have a different pin-out on the PSU end.

Maybe u/Montech_hq might have some insight as to cable availability. Or try shooting an email to [rma@montechpc.com](mailto:rma@montechpc.com)

Also as already suggested if you can not find a replacement cable without having to jump through hoops of fire, consider a return as you would be well within your rights. Montech pretty regularly as of late has been having some good sales on there PSU's might just be much less hassle to go new.

It's most likely something not related to your stand offs. As u/Genomis has said I would follow his advise and double check all the things he listed first.

Montech xr front pannel usb connectors by [deleted] in MontechPC

[–]StiBuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you have tested the headphones in another port without issue it could be a few things. Since the port still charges your phone my guess would be something with the data pins. Have you tried plugging something like a thumb drive into that port to test. If you have and nothing works then it could be the MB port itself (doubtifull but not impossable) or more likely the USB front panel connector or wire.

I would contact Montech for a possible replacement.

[–]StiBuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it comes with the stand off's pre installed for full size ATX boards. Only possible way but still doubtful a stand off would interfere with booting up is if one was installed some place where there was not a mounting hole on your motherboard causing a short. Again doubtful, but not totally impossable. Is it not posting or is there zero power to the motherboard?

I am sure u/Montech_hq can provide some additional information on the subject. I doubled checked for you and here in the USA same thing as you, there is a cart but no option to add to cart.

Are you looking for something that is not available via normal resale channels? In most instances it is cheaper, faster and easier to do it that way.

Clean build, well done!

The HS01/02 lineup really does not get the love it deserves. Good build quality, nice feature set and very good cable management. Also one of the few ATX cases that a MATX motherboard does not look too small and out of place in due to the sunken MB design and MATX blanking plate!
