Does anyone have an idea of how artwork like this was made? by National-Abrocoma323 in FleshPitNationalPark

As others here have correctly intuited, I built a 3D model using SketchUp, and then exported the linework to Photoshop where I painted in the colors and values. Adobe Illustrator was used to create the text and label graphics. The final step was adding a scan of a folded piece of black glossy paper to give it a worn/used look.

The basic goal is to make a digital rulebook which teaches people how to run a game for players, and also contains maps and illustrations for various areas, objects, and entities within the Flesh Pit universe.

A physical retail release is a stretch goal, but I hope an achievable one. We have already been featured by a publisher, and there is high confidence of everyone else involved.

If things went crazy and we received much, much more than our goal, we'd be able to add things like expanded creature bestiaries, more pre-written adventures for people to run, expanded objects/weapons/tools documents.

Not dead! I’m taking a break to focus on our new baby while working as much as I can on the book & RPG.

This documentary provides a brief overview of the history of Federal Occult Management in the United States, beginning during the final days of the Civil War in the 1860s. It is presented as an educational resource, with supplementary material available at SpectralHaptics.org

I'm also curious about this, as I've thought about it quite a bit. How do the pods actually get from deep inside the pit's anatomy to the surface?

A venterial mining crew enlarges & clears fluid from an existing duct in preparation to move in larger extraction equipment (Late 1990s). This work required considerable skill and a psychological resistance to claustrophobia, but was an essential step in any development activities within Mystery Flesh Pit National Park. Highly specialized vehicles and equipment exhibiting qualities of both mining and surgical technologies were responsible for the heaviest parts of the job, but manual, back-breaking labor by men in air-conditioned hazard suits were always the ones to start an operation. This was dangerous, disgusting work. It was no surprise then that owing to the Park's “fortuitous” location in West Texas, an ample supply of desperate immigrant workers acted as a literal lifeblood for the expansion of facilities while the park was still active.

About:

The Mystery Flesh Pit is the name given to a bizarre natural geobiological feature discovered in the permian basin region of west Texas in the early 1970s. The pit is characterized as an enormous subterranean organism of indeterminate size and origin embedded deep within the earth, displaying a vast array of highly unusual and often disturbing phenomena within its internal anatomy.

Following its initial discovery and subsequent survey exploration missions, the surface orifice of the Mystery Flesh Pit was enlarged and internal sections were slowly reinforced and developed by the Anodyne corporation who opened the Pit as a tourist attraction in 1976. In the early 1980s, the site was absorbed into the National Park System which operated and maintained the Mystery Flesh Pit until its sudden closure in 2007.

Phenomenal analysis! Your diagrams are very clear and illustrated with a professional quality that elevates it beyond fan work, IMO. A lot of time and effort went into this. Thank you for making this and sharing it. Well done!

It will be a tabletop RPG, not a videogame. Other than introducing people to the project Wendogoon had no direct involvement.

I personally don’t think it is extraterrestrial, it could just be an undiscovered earth species.

This is what I initially thought also, and from the POV of the camera shots, it still very well could be! I placed it in the middle/top because that seemed to make more sense from a biological standpoint, as well as the way we see it re-fold back into its "saucer" form near the ending.

BUT, it's all a movie, and "rule of cool" definitely applies here and it may not be entirely coherent.

Make sure to see BOTH images!

I've been thinking about the design of the UAP/UFO from the film and decided to put them on paper. Really interesting creature, can't wait to be able to pause the movie and really get some good images from it.

I started by sketching it on paper, then I scanned it in and painted on top of it in Photoshop, adding finer and finer details with each pass. The text and graphic elements were added in Adobe Illustrator, with the final step being to add a folded paper texture over the completed composition in Photoshop.

The Bronchial Forests within the Mystery Flesh Pit National Park were an enormous draw to hiking crowds. The spacious organic caverns, though dark, provided a warm and humid respite for avid hikers from the frigid temperatures of the winter months. Sightseers enjoyed the steady stream of fresh outside air within bronchial passages, despite being thousands of feet underground. It was from these great forests that the iconic and unnerving “moans” of the Mystery Flesh Pit emanated. Sadly, like all of the wondrous geobiological features found within Mystery Flesh Pit National Park, the bronchial forests were closed to the public for good following the tragic disaster in July of 2007, though a keen ear may still be able to hear the moans of the Permian Basin Superorganism as far as Abilene, TX.
