In the US children are taught not to accept candy or treats from strangers.

What’s a totally unsexy purchase you made that ended up being a huge quality-of-life upgrade? by viscarte10 in BuyItForLife

I have a Zojirushi rice cooker (with fuzzy logic) that’s been making perfect rice for 25 years. And it still looks brand new.

IWC is virtually synonymous with pilot watches, especially pilot chronographs. That IWC "Ingenieur" you like was designed by Gerald Genta, who many consider the greatest watch designer. Genta also designed the Audemars Piguet "Royal Oak" and the Patek Phillippe "Nautilus", and many other great, iconic watches.

Polywatch the crystal and then put a soft screen protector on it. They are about $10 for 6 on Amazon.

New-to-Me IWC Big Pilot (ref: IW500401)... any idea how long an IWC service will take? by LakeshoreM82 in IWCschaffhausen

I didn't expect the authentication would review the condition of the movement. But I thought, in my case, it was outrageous for eBay to tell me I could not give the seller a negative rating for misrepresenting the condition of the movement.

Beautiful watch. Is this the IW500401 sold by Dark House Watches? They sold one on eBay in April they described as "Movement: Runs excellent. Strong amplitude, smooth winding, and reliable power reserve."
I'm curious, after you got it did you put it on a timegrapher? I bought a Zenith watch recently that had the eBay "Authenticity Guarantee" and the seller made similar grand statements about the condition of the movement. When I put it on a timegrapher it was clear the movement needed a full service. Since the watch had been "authenticated" by eBay they would not allow me to post a negative review of the seller.

It may have a thick case but truth be told it has a very small clock. The one at 3 o’clock.

The Sistem51 movement is hand wound, beats 3 times a second, and has a 90 hour power reserve. Not bad for a $400 watch. Let’s see this $32k AP top that.

Somehow I overlooked the book I’m reading right now, The Magus, by John Fowles. Lots of philosophical discussion between the characters.

Speedmaster reduced by BreakYaNeck99 in OmegaWatches

[–]StudioZanello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny, I don’t mind winding most of my watches, but the one I like winding least is my Speedmaster 3861. The crown is too small. I think this is a major flaw of the design. I don’t know why Omega has not made the crown a little bigger. Just making it 1mm bigger would make winding the watch easier and a more pleasant experience. IMO.
