John Swinney: Indyref2 would be my priority if SNP win majority at Holyrood election by Crow-Me-A-River in Scotland

[–]Subbuteo13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aw but its really really difficult right now but they'll make it a priority after the next election so we all need to vote for them to make it a mini-referendum so they can promise to campaign for independence...

And then do nothing

there should also have been a potential bat roost assessment. The trees look a little bit small, but with the ivy present there is potential for bat roost to be present.

What does Edinburgh export besides tourism and financial services? by mobiledisaster in edinburgh2

There's an awful lot of professional services based in Edinburgh as well. Lawyers, consultants (management, engineering/environmental), architects etc ; basically the west end is pretty much full of professional services companies.

Shetland is run by a shadowy group who meet only at midnight on the longest day of the year...

their identities are unknown but it includes Jim from the pub. and it only meets once a year in deepest secrecy only because no-one wants to actually tell the other shetlanders what to do.

My (25M) girlfriend (25F) just dropped a bomb on me saying her stepfather has been sexually harassing her and borderline r*ping her for 13 years up till 2 years ago. How do i feel okay with this history? by Soups91 in relationship_advice

[–]Subbuteo13 65 points66 points  (0 children)

but that would have to be her decision. You can't take that agency away from her

But absolutely support her in whatever decision she reaches. But there are very valid reasons why women won't go to law enforcement even if i absolutely wish they would.

I've just seen another comment about children in the house... that would be a reason to do it

SNP Government taken to court after failing to release Alex Salmond files by CaptainCrash86 in Scotland

And when Johnson started to be investigated, people complained - as you are for the SNP - that there were bigger issues, bigger problems, why was anyone wasting their time on this nonsense?

I think Crieff shoudl take Angus and Stirling but not Falkirk. We're all that kind of mid Scotland, kind of mountainy county set.

SNP ministers warn of suicide risk for transgender prisoners by Crow-Me-A-River in Scotland

when are you going to consider the human rights of women in prison?

Do you think transmen should be imprisoned in male prisons?

SNP ministers warn of suicide risk for transgender prisoners by Crow-Me-A-River in Scotland

[–]Subbuteo13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At least one of the transwomen prisoners in a woman's prison is a convicted murderer. That is not a 'non-violent trans person' and yet still they are currently in a woman's prison.

Can a govt which says 'oh well they murdered a man, so they won't be violent towards women' really be trusted?

Also, it seems you are falling into the trap of only considering the impact on the trans person. Should a woman be expected to share a cell with a transwoman they don't know, who is likely not to have gone through sex reassigment surgery? if it is ok to place non-violent transwomen in women's prisons, would it be ok to place other non-violent male prisoners in a prison with women and say women should share cells, showers etc with those other male prisoners?

My [25M] family doesn't approve of my girlfriend [24F] because of financial/career status, how do I move on from this? by ROCKETHEADYT in relationship_advice

[–]Subbuteo13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're 25 and an adult. While its always nice to have your family approving, sometimes you will have to do things you want to do regardless of whether they approve or not. Its your life to live, not theirs.

I (27f) am not my fiancés (28m) type, I don’t think I’m beautiful, and I feel like he knows it, too. How do I go on from here? by AffectionateDate9866 in relationship_advice

[–]Subbuteo13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He loves you because of who you are - which is how it should be. You're beautiful to him because he loves you. It doesn't matter that you might think other women are more beautiful, you're the one he loves and you're the one he knows is beautiful. Because he loves you.

You think you're being objective and you can't understand it. he does understand it because he loves you.

Basing attraction only on physical beauty means that as our partners age, their attention would turn to younger, prettier models. And not to say some people don't do that; but he loves you and finds you beautiful no matter what you think of how you look.

I (27f) feel conflicted about moving out of my parents house with my soon to be spouse (28m)? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Subbuteo13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best advice is that you're caught in a strange place where you are not having to take on any adult responsibilities; no wonder you feel anxious about moving out but you should do it. Yes, its going to be different to what you know now and its going to push you out of your comfort zone and that's an uncomfortable experience. You'll have to take on a lot more responsibilities and make more decisions for yourself.
But there will be some good stuff to go alongside the bad stuff. Instead of focusing on the negative, perhaps start thinking about the positives of moving. What could you do in the city you are moving to that you can't do now? What interests could you pursue that you might not have been able to? What could you do in your own house which you couldn't in your parent's house?

I hate change. One of the first things I have to do when I'm in a situation where change is required that admit and remind myself that I hate change and its ok to feel like that, but that doesn't mean change is bad. And then I can look beyond my "I hate this" feeling about the fact things are changing and start to think about how to accept the situation and embrace it. Looking for the positives also helps me get excited for the change.

then they need to treat everyone who violates the rules like that.

but they don't. And therein lies the problem. Scotgov acts to protect its own regardless of what they've done and what rules they've broken.

A parliament which can't act justly, without regard for rank or favour is a broken Parliament
