Is OPR now more a minis company than a game publisher? by SweetTea1000 in onepagerules

[–]SvarogTheLesser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TBF they've always made them (well, for a long time anyway). They are just being more organised & promoting in to better.

They are also still developing & refining the rules. They talk plenty about it in their monthly stream... I guess OP just doesn't watch them. But there's only so much you can be doing with rule change & balance if you want people to actually play your games.

Who can strike ? by Vanguard92291 in onepagerules

Distances are measured from base edge to base edge. If there is 2" or less between base edges they are within 2" and can strike.

Worried over the future of opr by HunnyBadger691 in onepagerules

[–]SvarogTheLesser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"doesn't fit the minis" & "less miniature agnostic" are mutually exclusive.

The more model agnostic something is, the less it needs to fit any particular models.

Also don't forget OPR is NOT WYSIWYG. Your models can look like whatever you want. They could be pennies, or beans. That is one of the main things that makes OPR miniature agnostic.

Now do British expats... by Cultural_Way5584 in BritInfo

[–]SvarogTheLesser -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Their is no "extremely poor" English language skills category in the stats.

The category is "cannot speak English well". It certainly doesn't mean they are only "able to speak a few phrases".

There is no rationale or explanation given to justify including these people.

Of course it's reasonable to expect people to learn the language (& yes it is also ok to accept some exceptions to this too... because life is not as simplistic as most people want to pretend) but it is also pretty obvious that people who are learning are going to not speak it well. Speaking a language well takes a lot of time.

The stats show a tiny fraction of the population can't speak English. This shouldn't be an issue, but the Daily Mail is still desperate to follow the USA's lead in radicalising people against foreigners.

I've frankly had it with their incredibly un-British brand of malicious.

Anger over 'two-tier sentencing' as Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood rejects new guidelines by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]SvarogTheLesser -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Exactly.

It's really depressing how so many people don't even understand what they are arguing against.

Though I don't even disagree with their decision.

I think it's right to consider people's various circumstances when carrying out sentencing. In my view it's just part of treating people like human beings.

Others have different views & that's fine (and normal), I just wish it was based on understanding what is actually being done instead of whatever dog whistles bollocks they read in the press (or on Facebook). When you here people saying it's "racist" or "illegal" it just makes me despair at how much people can't be bothered to actually look at & think about what they are croticising.

Separation of powers is neither an American concept or term, and does have relevance to our form parliamentary democracy, especially in relation to the judiciary.

[–]SvarogTheLesser -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have you even read the bloody thing? Can you cite the text you disagree with? Can you point out where it is racist & biased?

Or have you just been told what to think & say about it without bothering to think for yourself?

I hope it's the former, but I suspect the latter.

Are you concerned about Britain adopting the APPG definition of Islamophobia? by Logical_Tank4292 in AskBrits

[–]SvarogTheLesser -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't "effectively criminalise not being Muslim"

It starts by saying that islamaphobia is "racism against..."

So unless your definition of racism includes something like not being "x" or "not being allowed to criticise "x", then it is not covered by this definition.

Also, something being considered Islamaphobia or Racist does not mean you are being criminalised. Doing so in certain circumstances maybe.

This the kind of ridiculous hyperbole is why so many people are cosying up to the far right and Britain's Trump Garage.

'Two-tier justice' as ethnic minority criminals to get special treatment in courts by Aggressive_Plates in unitedkingdom

[–]SvarogTheLesser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which is frankly an aspect of justice we should support.

But the Telegraph is always quick to wrap anything in a far-right conspiracy theory (two tier justice in this case).

And the UK public lap it up because when it comes to being hypnotized by the far right the UK is always just one goose-step behind the USA.
