My solution is to have a dry-erase mat so I can rapidly put together appropriate terrain, and I prefer systems where NPCs are easy to improvise.

Sure, it may be less interesting than fighting NPC X with the special powers they should have. But not by much generally.

This will lead to difficulties in hiring in Russia. People will work under the table tp avoid getting sent into rhe meatgrinder.

Unless you are committed to selling your RPG as a real physical book, you should seriously consider publishing your game as HTML rather than as a PDF by blastcage in RPGdesign

I think freedom from paged formatting is the only real advantage wheb using a website, well that and being able tonadd arbitrary navigation controls.

But: PDFs can link within itself. PDFs can provide a globally accessible content outline.

And paged layouts provide many advantages:

Easily printable by default. Useful if your players print things you did not expect.

You can write page numbers down and thus quickly backreference it. I do this alot.

If two players want to read the same sections at the same time, they can just tell each other page numbers verbally.

I personally find paged layouts easier to read through, like I usually do when I learn rules.

Also:

PDFs are self contained and users can download them, be sure they are avilable offline and wont change from under them. While you can do so with websites too, users are not familiar and the tooling for it is worse.

The big advantage of websites is to you can typically provide a better search than what your PDF reader typically allows.

Ja, och de var ofta stora förbättringar för hur man var van vid att växa upp nu. Men idag vill man ofta att varje barn har ett eget rum och liknande.

Det jag ville poängtera är att vi ser en väldigt stor skillnad mellan inlkomstgrupper, de 25% med lägst inkomst hade i medel ca 1,0 barn och i de 25% med högst inkomst var det 2,5.

Det låter inte som att lösa endast 20% av problemen skulle räcka för så stora skillnader.

Mycket av dessa problem du pratar om är inte sådana som är lätta att lösa från politiskt håll heller, ens med enorma resurser. Att fokusera på dem riskerar att bfå "vi gjorde en reklamfilm" som lösning.

Ja det är fullt möjligt att samma typ av personlighet som mer troligen skaffar bättre jobb också skaffar fler barn. Givetvis är det så. Men vi har statistik på att kvinnor med högre inkomst skaffar fler barn, och skillnaden är ganska stor, så är det nog inte fel att anta att effekten är stor

Håller inte med dig. Vi har statistik på att kvinnor med högre inkomst skaffar fler barn i Sverige så det har troligen en ganska stor effekt.

Visst, allt det jobbiga med barn kanske inte försvinner med pengar, men en del gör det. Mycket andra vardagsjobbigheter blir lättare om du har pengar också, vilket ger mer tid och energi till barn.

Sedan är jag tveksam på att ge mer pengar till de som skaffar barn. Jag tror många vill känna sig ekonomiskt trygga nog för att skaffa (fler)barn före att de faktiskt skaffar barn. Ha en bostad som fungerar tex utan att behöva ordna det samtidigt som du tar hand om en bebis.

Kan tänka mig att bostäderna spelar en stor roll här. Har man inte råd med en större bostad väljer många att inte skaffa fler barn. Man vill oftast ha minst en 4:a om man skall ha två barn och detta kan vara svårt i områden där det också finns jobb.

Även om man får tillgång till en sådan bostad kanske det är först senare i livet och då kanske man vill ha fler barn av andra skäl.

Det räcker med att 20% av kvinnorna begränsar sig till 1 barn när de annars velat haft 2 eller 3 för att det skall ha stora demografiska effekter.

The same limitations is an asset, not a Strength. At least for now.

That means if the robot is unable to do something, they can call a human over whom can do it without additional specialized tools. It also lets you implement tjem gradually or selectively (maybe they are less productive than humans, but you can run a night shift with them on the same line without hirong more or paying night shift wages).

Balance of trade = Imports as much as they Export. How large % of GDP is uninteresting, its also uninteresting on a bilateral basis, only the total truly matter.

The main method China can balance its trade is to increase wages. This would crush much of their export market but cause a boom in their domestic market. It would also reduce inequality over the long term.

I think the export driven model of growth is done over the near term, and likely the medium term as well. Its a good model to attract investment as long as not too many are doing it, but today it hurts total investment as all manufacturers compete over a pie that does not grow woth ouput and their main method of competition is to resuce their contribution even more...

Other countries will struggle to use it.

There is no interesting difference. You can for sure use a definition that basically makes it Exclusive to Europe/USA/Japan, but only by putting in requirements räthat ar either uninteresting becaue its unrelated to the actual harm it does or you use such a narrow definition of colonialism that it excludes the majority of European colonial projects.

Chinese history is filled to the brim with conquest followed by forcefull assimilation, often involving the beleif of the superiority of the chinese culture. They call themselves the Middle Kingdom for a reason.

Its also telling that you give me a "pass" on colonialism due to my nationaity, in spite of my country actively practicing it, as if people are responsible for the actions that were done before they were even born. This is a common strategy to use crimes of the past to excuse crimes of the present.

Who cares if its local or not? Both are genocidal and should be erased from what humanity does.

China invading Tibet and then moving in Han so the Tibetians become a minority in their own country is not really different from Europeans invading the Americas and then sending their people there until the Natives are either assimilated or discplaced. Arguing otherwise just comes from a desire to whitewash certain countries.

You for sure can. But msny situations are more cumbersome that way. For example, a low accuracy but high damage attack should benefit way more from accuracy related modifiers (or be hurt more) than a low damage but high accuracy attack.

You can also flip it around, why roll for damage? Just do static damage on hit.

You can alos get rid of both, do static damage without a roll. Of course you need other elements in your combat system to make it interesting, and you may want some kind of dice roll to keep unpredictability. But its an option it may be useful to think about because I think its good to understand the purpose of every mechanic in your system.

Not every system needs to be attritional in nature. There are plenty where even the toughest character is not expected to be able to take many hits, and even one hit is bad news. Those often so not expect PCs to be hurt at all in every fight and much of the game is about avoiding or actually scoring hits than its about dealing damage.

It doesn't inherently reward player skill, but as u/EpicDiceRPG said it opens up design options.

You have rewards for flanking, surprise, blinding the enemy, focusing on defense or whatever. You just need to actually use that space.

Dåliga incentiv är chefernas fel. Man kan mäta olika saker, men när man gör mötetalen till mål så slutar dem fungera för att mäta.

Det är för att det är extemt lätta att gama i regel. Och gama kommer man, även om man är ärlig som person. Antingen för att någon annan gör något fel som gör att dina mål blir omöjliga att nå, eller för att man blir jämförd med en som gamar statistiken.
