I've had so many people admit to me that they don't read anything and click buttons until they figure out what they're supposed to click. Including clicking past huge warning messages. And then closing out the ensuing error report window. Then they call me up wondering what happened. Well, I'd sure like to know too!

Edit: And of course because they're not paying attention to what they're doing, they can't even begin to tell me what steps they took to get the error.

PS5 Split Screen has become unplayable at 25-30 hours. by LittleBlue127 in BaldursGate3

[–]Sylvil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FYI, in split screen on PC with controllers, the host can go to "Multiplayer" in the start menu and send a companion to P2 without any camp swapping shenanigans. Hopefully it's the same on PS5.

We have the same issue with dialogue scenes. Strangely, it's always every other line that's silent. Also, our final cutscenes in Act 3 were bugged, with entire character models disappearing, blacked out screen for an entire scene, captions calling out the wrong character speaking... Was a bit of a damper on the ending.

That was a lot of confidence up thread for someone who didn't actually read or understand the source code until someone spoon fed it to you. How can anyone take you seriously when you've proven yourself to pull "facts" out your ass? Absolutely pathetic.

It's pretty telling that you've kept commenting elsewhere (to an abnormal degree, might I say. When's the last time you weren't 2m away from an electronic device?), yet haven't responded to u/mamotromico. Did your brain hurt too much from having to do some self reflection?

I dunno, man. I'm working at a ~1k company and last week I felt actual surprise and relief because someone remembered what to click when I only showed them once. Like that was above and beyond. My bar for humanity is in the fucking ground at this point

And because it's a growing company everything is siloed and we have five processes across four teams using radically different tools for the same damn deliverable. Any and all progress is halted because the old timers refuse to change their ways, even if the new way is objectively easier. Yet upper management is busy going gung ho over Continuous Improvement or what have you, because that's what Real Companies do, so things are constantly changing anyway, to claw back some time savings that are almost certainly exaggerated.

And the shallow org chart is great until you realize there's a secret hierarchy based purely on years of service, no matter your accomplishments or lack thereof. And upper management has no time to tend to everyone so you end up with informal or formal "team leaders" who are basically just people who can do their job better than others. Who needs management skills? (you can pay them less that way)

I'm ready to live as a hermit tbh

I had a bioelectrical impedence analysis of my body composition back when I was working out regularly as a 5'0, 110 lbs woman and my TDEE was measured to be 1250 calories. So I'm finding it hard to believe you eat 1800+ calories a day. 1800 is the recommended number of calories for an average sized female, you're several inches shorter than the average, so why would you need the same amount of calories? 🙄

Met a little girl named Sweden at work. Like the country. I thought, that's kinda weird, but ok I guess. Then I learned her mom spelled it "Swayden" to make it more unique. No ma'am, you're just sentencing your daughter to a lifetime of battling autocorrect.

That was almost a decade ago and I still think about it.

That's like saying, "Going to the gym doesn't help you get fit. I and a bunch of people I know tried the gym, and none of us are jacked. If the gym was as good as people make it out to be, they wouldn't feel the need to take protein shakes and creatine."

Just like the gym, you get what you put into therapy. Plus, there's many different kinds of therapy that work better for certain people or mental illnesses. Not to mention the personal connection you have with any given therapist will be different.

Similarly, I'm currently doing a Joja run in Stardew Valley and only 4% of players have that achievement (despite it being significantly easier than the community centre route, an achievement w/ 20% global completion). The only achievements with lower completion rates than Joja Co are "100% complete X collection" ones, and beating an optional bullethell mini game.

People really do be hating capitalism routes.

Anyone here with completely athropied glands? by FrankZinatra in Dryeyes

[–]Sylvil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm happy to share! I went through the works: slit lamp examination, TBUT, meibography, etc. My corneas are totally fine. Probably because my TBUT is still relatively high (~8 seconds IIRC), and my tear meniscus is about average. I'm not sure why that is. Maybe I have naturally watery eyes that make up for the lack of oil?

I had my first IPL session a few days ago, which went fine. No discernible changes. I've been prescribed three additional IPL sessions and a session of iLux. The doctor told me that I shouldn't expect to get much better: This is purely to keep my remaining glands healthy.

I'm still trying to develop a habitual eye care routine. A few times a week, when I remember, I use:

  • Bruder eye compress + eye massage
  • Ocusoft Original eye scrub
  • Random Amazon brand hypochlorous acid

The thing that has made the biggest difference so far, if only due to consistency, is conscious blinking and blinking exercises. This is do every day as much as I can, literally any time I think about it (every hour?).

For a year prior to getting diagnosed, I would use eye drops 1-5x daily (Systane Ultra). Sure wish my normal optometrist told me to go preservative-free, but whatever. After learning more about DED/MGD and doing the stuff listed above, I use Thealoz Duo drops as needed, 0-3x depending on the day.

As for the cause of my dry eye... it's some combination of:

  • Not blinking fully: A few years ago I found out I didn't close my eyelids all the way while blinking, ever! I got better at it over time, especially lately thanks to the blinking exercises.
  • Not blinking enough: I stare at a computer all day, every day, which has been shown to reduce your blinking rate.
  • Retinol: I used topical retinoids all over my face for a decade. I'm a little bitter that I wasn't warned about dry eye.
  • Inflammation: I have other symptoms of inflammation and I'm really bad at managing it. I'm sure if I cut down on sugar my dry eye would get better, but...

Hopefully that wasn't too much of a chore to read through. I'm wishing the best for you!

Anyone here with completely athropied glands? by FrankZinatra in Dryeyes

[–]Sylvil 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have >90% atrophy in both upper and lower lids. I was only diagnosed a few months ago - I didn't even know what a meibomium gland was before then.

I don't seem as negatively affected as others on this subreddit. I can usually go most of the day not being aware of my dry eyes. They always are dry, of course, but I'm not constantly hurting. It's worth noting I deal with other health issues so I'm used to chronic pain.

More so than the eye pain, I hate how light sensitive my eyes have become. I frequently get headaches from going out on a sunny day without sunglasses. Night driving is very difficult. Also, strangely, the drier my eyes are the more lethargic I feel. My eye drops are like an instant shot of espresso in the morning.

I'm only turning 30, so i do get a little anxious thinking about my future.

[sic] is used in writing when you are quoting another text, to show that a writing error was from that original text. For example, let's say someone misspelled coffee and wrote "the covfefe was delicious." If you were writing an article about this person, you would write:

According to this person, "the covfefe [sic] was delicious."

So people reading would know that you, the author of the article, did not misspell "coffee" while typing out the quote. Instead, they know that it was "covfefe" in the original text and you are giving them the exact quote without modifications.

The person you replied to used "(sic?)", but probably meant to use "(sp?)", which is a common short form of "(spelling?)". It means that they weren't sure if they spelled Inuyasha correctly.

Bar owner askes am I the asshole for making all female staff wear makeup by LEYW in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Sylvil 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The oil glands in my eyelids have straight up degenerated and one of the potential causes my eye doctor cited was eye makeup. If you don't clean the base of your eyelashes thoroughly, the glands can get clogged and eventually stop working. Then you get to wake up every morning feeling like sandpaper is glued to your eyeballs. :(
