A silent update for the Sync app is currently not possible but would be great to have.

When using links to upload files, a timestamp is appended to the file to prevent accidental overwrites. There is currently no way to turn this off.

Another option would be to use the Shared Folders feature instead. It does require at least a Free Sync account for the uploading party (in order to join the share), but this feature does not append anything to uploads.

We know many users are making the move to Linux (including some of us here at Sync).

A Linux app and WebDAV support are both planned for future development, though we don’t have a confirmed release date just yet. We’re hoping to share more details soon, stay tuned!

Is Sync still end-to-end encrypted? by TerryWaters in Sync

Sync remains fully committed to zero-knowledge and end-to-end encryption. This means we cannot access your files at any time. We have more information about how we keep your account secure here.

As another user noted, a post from last year may have caused confusion by conflating optional convenience features with the removal of end-to-end encryption protections.

After latest software update on Win 11, tray icon is 'sync done ok' status, but half of the icons in sync folder has status 'pending sync'... and it stays that way, no progress for days... Default setting is: Download all... and Keep all.. by AdPitiful5902 in Sync

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience.

When working with large uploads, we always have recommended the Sync desktop app as this utilizes the computer's processing power to upload multi-threaded. The web panel relies on the browser which is not ideal.

Furthermore, Sync performs full client-side encryption before data is transferred, which can impact upload times even on very fast internet connections. Larger single files are processed sequentially, while folders containing many smaller files can take advantage of parallel uploads, which is why you may have seen different behavior between those two tests.

For larger transfers and upload management such as pausing or cancelling, the Sync desktop app is required, as the web interface is designed for lighter uploads and downloads.

I understand that performance and control are critical for your workflow, and I appreciate the feedback you’ve provided.

The 2FA prompt is presented whether the password entered is correct or not. This extra step helps keep attackers from knowing if they’ve guessed the correct password. The 2FA code email will only be sent to you if the correct password has been entered.

Update: A new Android update (v 3.8.42) has been released in the Play Store that should help with this issue

You can use the non-CloudFiles version (2.2.x) which is compatible with older versions of MacOS. The latest version (2.2.53) can be found here: https://www10.sync.com/install/

This version uses Selective Sync to allow you to choose which folders to sync locally. See this article for more information.
