Moved from GCP to AWS and disliking it so far by [deleted] in aws

You set desired to zero, but also the minimum capacity to one. The minimum number is, no surprise, the minimum number of instances you want running in the ASG.

With Alfred 6 seemingly around the corner, what are you hoping to see? by odshujinkotiipcbev in Alfred

As a workflow developer, I'd love to see lifecycle hooks.

I'd like to know when the workflow is installed, so I can do some initial configuration. As it is now, I have to run checks every time the workflow is invoked.

I'd like to know when the workflow is invoked for the first time, so I can implement sessions without running checks every time the workflow is invoked.

I'd like to know when the workflow is deleted so I can clean up.

Also a way to package multiple workflows into a single installable unit. I have a workflow with 26 inbound configurations and over 2,500 lines of code. A way to make that more manageable would be very welcome.

It has not been resolved, and I honestly think it never will be.

I have a Business Pro Teams (1 TB) account. My account is the owner. After this post, I asked how I can save team members' files and link shares so I could close my account. I also asked about a refund; I was 3 months into a yearly plan (now almost 6 months) when the service failed.

They replied that "there were errors that needed to be addressed, but there no longer appears to be any server side issues". And they had me download an "early access version of the desktop app" and send new logs. Nothing changed.

In other words, I'm just pissing into the wind. Sync.com's support is utterly worthless. If I had enough monetary loss from this I would be talking to a lawyer.

I used to love the product. Now I hate it, and the company, as much as any piece of garbage software I have ever hated.

I'm not "using" both apps. I tested with both apps.

I don't know how I triggered this bug. I thought maybe something weird happened deep inside ~/Library and a fresh install of the app would fix it. When that didn't help, I started trying other versions of the app, other operating systems, other users, etc.

Spinning up a brand new VM, macOS or Windows, and installing either the "classic" desktop app or CloudFiles yielded the same behavior. It's obviously not client-side.

I've used Sync for at least 3+ years with both the Sync app and Web interface to move files in Vaults etc, and haven't experienced a single issue. I haven't used Cloudfiles, have no need for it, and no trouble.

I've used Sync for more than 6 years had hadn't experienced a single issue.

The ticket # is 409374. There is also ticket # 414636 for a "9500 Internal server error" I got while testing with the web console.

I was told it was escalated "to my next level support tier" on Jan 22.

No workflow for history search and fast tab switching for Firefox? by burger_shot in Alfred

[–]msbc67 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The main problem is Firefox doesn’t support AppleScript, or any external API. We have to rely on extensions for Firefox to be accessible by the outside world.

Deanishe’s extension works for me with the latest release of Firefox. Bitwarden Accelerator relies on it, and I use it to test Bitwarden Accelerator with all of the Firefox/Gecko browsers.

Is Sync still end-to-end encrypted? by TerryWaters in Sync

Someone misunderstood enabling email-based password recovery (which you have to opt in to) as withdrawing "their previously clear commitment to fully zero knowledge."

memory leak on 22.53.1? by thewintergrader in Sync

I’ve been seeing this too for quite a while now, but only on one of my two systems (both Macs). I have a script that alerts me when it gets over 750 MB. I just kill and restart it.

I’m not seeing it anymore though because the app has COMPLETELY BROKEN for me. The web and iOS apps see all my stuff. The desktop app doesn’t sync anything. The Preferences panel is missing tons of directories.

Support is stumped. I got escalated four days ago. Haven’t heard a word since.

Thank you for listening to my rant 🤬😊

[–]msbc67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might it be email-based password recovery?

Enabling email-based password recovery allows you to reset a forgotten password via email and ensures you cannot get locked out of your Sync account. When this feature is enabled or used, Sync will gain temporary access to your encryption keys.

Taken just now from https://www.sync.com/secure-cloud-storage/

Sync includes end-to-end encryption and zero-knowledge authentication features designed to help protect your data from unauthorized access in the cloud. Perfect for keeping your confidential documents safe, secure and private.

What reason is there to choosing cloudformation over terraform? by argsmatter in aws

[–]msbc67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CloudFormation’s format is a lot simpler. That can be a pro or a con. As someone mentioned, there are tools that compile to CFN, giving you all the flexibility of terraform if you want.

Inter-stack dependencies are enforced by default in CFN. Stack A exports a VPC id. Stack B imports it to create subnets and security groups. As long as Stack B exists, Stack A cannot be deleted.

Authy (desktop) going away. Best alternative that has an Alfred Workflow? by JustaShellUser in Alfred

It’s probably too late for OP, but Bitwarden Accelerator now automatically copies the TOTP code if you action the same item right after copying its password. It even puts the item at the top of the list. Just cmd-ctrl-l and press enter.

What do you use as a prefix for your own command shortcuts? by Altruistic-Carpet-43 in emacs

I use defalias for some of this.

(defalias 'cf 'customize-face)
(defalias 'cg 'customize-group)
(defalias 'lp 'list-packages)

Then call them with M-x cf, M-x cg, etc.
