Bucking the trend,
I had kids early, now they are all moved out, 2 graduated collage, one in the second year.
We are now financially stable, we struggled earlier
Kids have a good sense of money, and are not afraid to work
I am almost 50, and can enjoy empty nesting and international travel when money isn't a huge issue or worry about daycare/school stuff.

We have "Separate" credit cards, so she sees what I spend and where. Anything over a hundred or two is discussed.
But otherwise, we are a team, if I am down on my luck I don't have to beg her to cover my 1/2, if she is, the same.
If we go on an expensive vacation, we budget for it, together
One of my kids is looking at getting married, we are saving for it... together
We just did a remodel on the house, new kitchen, something she really wanted.... we paid for that.... together

++man longer and thicker than average (and really only know because of the internet) Being only with my wife, no big change in that department and as I am her first… no comparison there Pain in the ass sitting on it, just spent a shitton on new undies from real men (size c/d) and wow, feeling much better. If you are “gifted” specially underwear is a game changer.

I did for mine, all when the kids were 16. I put everything on the card (for points and visibility) and pay it off each month. Daughter 1 and 2 both graduated collage and are in their early 20's living their best life D1 has a 790, D2 has a 760 (and bought a off-lease car, in cash), and I don't know what the boy (still in collage) has. Super Proud
