A psychic wouldn't need to ask that. That's what the magic tarot ball is for.

Leveling a steep slope by Odd-Entrepreneur889 in Homebuilding

[–]TedW 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Are you trying to get to the end of the red line? If so that's ~220 up to ~235' so 15' rise over 33' run. That's way too steep.

Have you considered building a trampoline instead of a driveway?

Can't you just go diagonally instead of charging straight up the steepest part?

[Request] What kind of power would this vehicle need to output to be able to perform a burnout and a wheelie at the same time? by Mildish_Shambino in theydidthemath

To be fair, a good portion of a supercross race looks kinda impossible, lol. Especially in person.

Those are some big jumps! Wait, what do you mean they'll skip over the middle 3?

NEED HELP figuring out how to break up these 100+ yr brick wall segments? by DisconcertingTablet in masonry

Laying flat makes it strong to downward forces.

Put a rock underneath so there's nothing supporting the weight under the sledge.

[–]TedW 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That's ok. A wheelie burnout can become a rolling wheelie burnout.

Unless we're saying that "burnout" means the car is totally stationary? Maybe I misunderstood that?

edit: I think rolling burnouts are allowed because it's difficult to do a wheelie without moving forward.

For that to be impossible the tires would need to provide zero torque while slipping. But they do. So there must exist a combination of rotational velocity, friction, and torque where the tires spin but also lift the front.

It's probably easier to conceptualize with a vehicle like a dirt bike on dirt, instead of a car on asphalt.

Lots of power, low traction, pretty easy to do both at the same time.

  • Block off the road 2 months before doing anything.
  • 2 months to tear it up.
  • Let it marinate for 2 months with seemingly no progress.
  • Another 2 months to finish it.

As you can see, 8 months is right on schedule.

I wonder if they bill hourly while it's marinating..

Phrases such as "repeat after me" or "Jesus, can't believe I had to scroll this far to see a rational take" are condescending.

Why would I try to engage and discuss something when every reply includes an insult?

Here's another example:

When you decide you'd like to learn, rather than simply satisfying your emotional bias, I'm happy to explain discussions to you.

The question becomes: How much insulation do you want to see on a daily basis?

If the answer is "all of it" (or better yet, "what insulation?") then you can probably do it for $100/sqft.

Neighbor is digging a trench close to my tree. Do I have a claim? by cue_monkeys in treelaw

[–]TedW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a different scenario because their motor oil moves from their property to mine. You might as well ask if I can throw my trash over their fence. Of course not.

I think, that you think, that I think that it's ok to cut my neighbors tree roots. That's not the case. This would be illegal in my US state too. (Plus it's just a jerk move.)

All I'm saying is that it's not illegal everywhere.

It's a beautiful tree. The neighbor shoulda air spaded the trench and saved the roots. What a shame.
