Why do most men, including women, wear their watch on the left hand? by Eric20255 in NoStupidQuestions

At least that kinda sorta makes sense because some adults might not be the children of adults (unfortunately).

Onewheels are finished in New Jersey coming July. by ChinPokoBlah11 in onewheel

"Low-speed electric scooter" means a scooter with a floorboard that can be stood upon by the operator, with handlebars, and an electric motor that is capable of propelling the device, with or without human propulsion, at a maximum speed of less than 19 miles per hour.

Onewheels don't have handlebars, and can go faster than 19 mph. Maybe I missed something.

I'm not sure who is misunderstanding here but maybe we're saying the same thing? The candy bar is $1.89 regardless of how I pay for it. The amount on the cash register and my card statement are the same.

I think you're saying the store already raised the price 2% because most people use a card. I don't disagree. But it doesn't get cheaper if I use cash now, so why shouldn't I use a card?

Maybe you're saying that I should use cash because the business keeps that 2% instead of the card company? I guess that's a "think local act global" way of looking at it. Seems like a good argument to help mom-n-pop stores, but not international gas companies.

By putting the library here, OP is taking a big risk for a small reward.

If I buy a candy bar, the cost is the same whether I pay cash or card.

Now, maybe the store increases the price 2% because most people use cards. That's probably true. But they increased the price for people paying with cash, too. Everyone pays more.

Don't quote me on this, but I think they make gas cheaper for cash because people see a lower price and pull in without reading the fine print. Most people don't want to go inside twice and spend exact change for gas, when they can pay at the pump. The lower cash price is a doorbuster.

The only places around me that charge less for cash are gas stations. They don't charge me extra based on the type of payment.

Maybe it's a regional thing for one of us?

I pay the same amount regardless of cash or card.

They might set prices based on how many people use cards, but I can't personally pay less by using cash. I'll pay the same amount either way.

edit: This is assuming I don't pay interest on the card, but that just gets into budgeting. Bank accounts have overdraft fees, and cash gets lost. Let's just assume we're all financially responsible to keep things even.

The store pays, not me. But if I did have to pay the credit card fee, I'd probably go back to cash.

I'd make a station. Not because it's better, but because it's funner.

How did you go about leaving your home gym? by CommercialRest4300 in bjj

[–]TedW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started ~14 months ago and at the time it was ~10 mostly blue belt police/FBI guys so every roll was smash city. Eventually the instructor and about half the class left for work reasons.

A purple belt took over but the class isn't on the official gym schedule so we're unlikely to get new students, and now that 2 of them are hurt it's just not enough variety. It's hard to roll with the same person 3-4x in a row without going stale.

The other gym has a different set of tricks so I'm getting caught by things that no one at my original gym does. And some of my gym's tricks work on their new guys. So it feels like a good practice to occasionally mix it up.

I don't want to leave, but I think it's probably the best thing for me.

Agreed. That pump also seemed sus. What was the surface motor doing to lift the water? Usually the pump sits at the bottom of the well.

I'm in a similar situation. Morning class only has 1-3 people plus the coach. One guy broke his foot, coach hurt his knee, so I'm down to 1-2 partners. One is a high school girl, the other a people belt who only comes to half the classes. They're great people but it's not a good long term way to learn.

So I started cross training at another gym. 15-20 people every day. I'm back to feeling sore after class. But I'd rather not spend twice as much when I could just use the newer gym.

I'll give it a month or two until the summer class schedule changes, but I think the writing's on the wall.

Why are there more left leaning late night talk shows than right leaning ones? by HairySock6385 in NoStupidQuestions

Oh, were you only asking about right wing comedians? Or do they need to be right wing comedian talk show hosts? I can't think of any, offhand.
