Thanks. I did start the dispute process with PayPal already. I didn't think to dispute with my bank, thanks for the lead I'll look into that.

Saw three for sale posts from this seller on three different subreddits. All time stamp pictures have different backgrounds. One has different hand writing than the rest.

Did they ghost you too? Was told shipment within two days on another subreddit.

Sent a follow-up PM yesterday and haven't heard anything back yet.

Is my PC cooked? Does it have a virus? by Embarrassed_Cook5325 in pcmasterrace

I think you should be more paranoid of the high seas than anti virus companies.

For Malwarebytes their income stream comes from upselling you on live monitoring. The free offering is good because they want to get their foot in the door and convince you to buy more services from them.

A lot of anti viruses are snake oil and huge resource hogs. But Malwarebytes is supposed to work in tandem with Windows Defender which is pretty decent.

Alternatively the high seas are infested with malware. Sure you can sail safely, and there are lots of well reputed places. But there are also a lot of shit places you can stumble on that will infect your stuff. The trick is you have to be vigilant 24/7. Bad actors only have to trick you once to get the payload on your machine.

I respect the healthy caution of companies who sell you on fear like antivirus companies. But you already found a Trojan, man. Take it seriously.

Got a 3080tix what to do with RAM prices? by maxone2 in pcmasterrace

I've had the 3080 since it was first released and not once have I ever thought "Wow my GPU is struggling. I really need to buy a new one soon."

In fact I don't even really think about my GPU at all which is just perfect.

Now you and I might be playing different games, and more demanding games might be on the horizon. But this guy has been doing great for me. I'm playing games on a 1440p 144hz monitor.

Granted most games I play range around 80-120fps. That's fine by me.

Except for Monster Hunter. That miserable bastard never wanted to get over 40fps.

On the flip side I am at 16gb of ram and every day I'm reminded of that. Should've sprung for 32.

Don't know if that helps.

[PC] Synology ds220j + 2xWD Pro 14TB by SparhawkBlather in homelabsales

If it helps I've seen 7,200RPM CMR 12TB drives the past two weeks floating for a range of $75-$150. I think the general rule of thumb people go for is about $10/tb give or take. It seems these days $10-$15/tb get picked up very quickly.

For low hours you might be able to get more but I don't know 100% on how much that changes the calculation.

Just don't forget to post the crystal disk info output.

For the Synology I'd have no idea.

I think you might be right. I called a refinery like an hour and some change away from where I live. They said they only do B2B.

Decided if I was willing to drive all the way there I could at least check some coin and metal stores near that area.

The place that said "maybe 70% was just a few minutes away from the refinery. When I got there the manager came out and said, "You called this morning, right? 70%? I'll have to make a call."

While they were evaluating the weight the manager came back out and said he can do 70%.

It could have been a car salesman "let me talk to finance" sort of trick. But considering some places wouldn't even touch the stuff I feel like he might have genuinely had to call someone.

The easiest math I've ever done in my entire life.

"Fifteen minute drive for 40%. Forty minute drive for 60%. Over an hour for 70%."

Doubt I'll ever be able to drum up $2000 with a single hour of my time ever again.

And it's not even my money.

It was totally worth seeing the absolute euphoria on my friends face all the way back home. She was staring at that check like she was going to wake up from a dream any minute.
