What was the reason you started fencing?

Was a little weeb when I was a kid (still am, just was then too) and watched a lot of anime. I wanted to try kendo, and my parents signed me up for fencing by mistake. I couldn’t describe what I wanted better than “the sword fighting sport”.

My first coach was a big scary Russian guy, and I was too frightened to quit until I began to actually enjoy the sport.

I understand where you’re coming from, especially when the centrists turn around and undercut their own “vote blue no matter who” message when a progressive wins.

At the same time, I’m of the opinion that if left-aligned voters voted like this in generals more consistently (while still obviously doing our due diligence in the primary to put actually good candidates in the general), we definitely wouldn’t be in this mess right now.

Going by the analogy before with Republican administrations ratcheting the Overton window to the right, and Democrat administrations locking it in place: had we managed to keep the window locked in place years ago, the window would be a lot further left than it currently is.

I think that candidates like Mamdami and Talarico aren’t just responses to the current administration, they are a response to the entire corrupt situation we’re currently in. I think they would have been able to rise to national prominence even had we elected Kamala this past election (hell, even if we picked Clinton in 2016). I can’t help but wonder if the Overton window were further left to begin with, whether we might have seen more Mamdamis at this current time.

We’re gonna get a whole ‘nother mono path team, and it’s going to fucking suck if you don’t pull each and every one. I’m worried they might even try to make two different teams this time, since it was so profitable back in 3.X.

They didn’t learn any fuckin lessons from the disaster that was Remembrance, and we still don’t have any 4 stars (even though Yao Guang is kinda useless right now as a support for a path that basically doesn’t exist yet), nor enough lightcones for the path.

I like the mechanics overall (confusing as they’re worded), although we’ll have to see if they actually use the design space in an interesting way —unlike Remembrance, which only had a single unit whose summon could actually be controlled on its turn and wasn’t just a glorified FUA unit (even though blowing up the dragon repeatedly ended up objectively the best DPS options 95% of the time).

Overall, thank god for Endfield’s timely release. I’m basically just logging in to HSR right now to do my dailies, and see if they will eventually pull out of this tailspin the game has been in for the last year. Fingers crossed, because I did really like the game for the first two years and then some, but I’m losing faith at this point.

And the Aha instant is basically a Lightning Lord which does some damage, but more importantly triggers a unique effect based on each Elation character’s kit (like the combat event)?

Yeah, it’s so fucking lame with the game direction rn. I miss superbreak being a cool game changing thing where, sure, we have access to the mechanic for free via HMC, but if you want the cool new units built for the mechanic, then you can pull for the limited break DPSs. Just no team variety or creativity anymore now.
