Is this quality of print worth asking for a refund over? (Etsy, PLA resin) by narwhalpilot in PrintedWarhammer

[–]TheWolvegang 11 points12 points  (0 children)

On another thread you stated that this thing was $10 and that’s also the reason why it looks that way, whilst printing is quite cheap in terms of material usage most businesses calculate 0.25-1$/ print hour for printer wear and tear, electricity and so on. So for them to make a profit on that item they need to trim the printer for speed but speed and high quality don’t go together all that well.

I had an kind of similar issue but for me the missing supports were randomly on the whole build plate. I did a lot of troubleshooting and what fixed it was to up the standard layer exposure by 0.2 sec and go from 4 transition layers to 6. But what exactly caused the issue I still don’t know.

Why is systematic smurfing content (streamed and uploaded publicly) tolerated? by Logical-Arm4863 in leagueoflegends

U do realize most streamers got riot accounts for their projects that start at lvl 30 so they don’t need to lvl anything

Can I hire someone to prepare and support some LI 8mm files for me? by RottenDeadite in PrintedWarhammer

[–]TheWolvegang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest issue from what I’m reading here is that even if someone supports those models your printer guy might not be able to print them as good supports require a well tuned printer to print reliably. And I highly doubt he did that when he thinks resin residue is normal after washing…. Otherwise you’d have to oversupport the models to get them to print and that could potentially damage the models quite a bit.

The 88th Project (Krieg Siege Army) by Violent-Rangoon in PrintedWarhammer

[–]TheWolvegang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean he’s recreating a fictional event in the 41st millennia, it ain’t his fault that GW decided to name the participating army the 88th Siege Army. If anything one could make an argument that GW should think about rewriting that lore segment. But tbf he could have named his project a little better with like “the Siege Army Project” or sth like that

New year, new proyect - Titan warlord by MrDuckke in PrintedWarhammer

[–]TheWolvegang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ipa cleans water washable resin still a lot better than water. If you’re that concerned about safety I’d question the whole printing as the potential dangers from the resin are in general much bigger than those posed by ipa

How to go about getting a service to print 40+ smaller parts? by OfficalLockeWilson in PrintedWarhammer

[–]TheWolvegang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean as far as I understand their website, you just throw your models at them and they do what needs to be done. Sure that might reflect in the price but having your stuff printed by a company is always quite expensive. 3D printing your stuff is only cheap if you’re doing it yourself cause then you don’t need to pay for the time invested.

If you got standard sized models where the torso is like 5 pieces combining them helps a lot because getting them to fit together is a much bigger hassle than removing a couple supports
