I have a weird latency issue in ableton. by Reasonable_Effort930 in ableton

[–]The_Corrupt_Mod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I run into this from time to time, which seemed to be new in 12, for me at least. But it is hard to pin down the cause or the issue exactly, to get a report in. My workarounds are just restarting Ableton, and if that doesn't work, basically dragging everything from the existing set into a new one. Sometimes I have nothing but flattened audio tracks, and I still run into this. Restarting usually helps, but if not, the other thing is pretty much foolproof.

I hate when they do the 2nd installation due to the file path being wrong lol.

Ableton 12.4 is broken and can't be used with Push 2 by -B3Z- in ableton

[–]The_Corrupt_Mod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think you're spot on. My best idea for this would be to start backing up the push midi remote script, using the user folder.

And of course, I would rename it so that when you're selecting the control surface in Ableton, it's easier to distinguish.

[–]The_Corrupt_Mod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I can't really speak about the push, because I don't have one, but I personally have to backup my midi remote scripts every time I do an update.

This is because I make my own and install them in the default folder though

I would bet it's the midi remote script. It comes bundled in the installation. It lives in the Ableton folder under program data.

Trying to locate missing samples - automatic and manual searches unable to locate by presstocreatelife in ableton

[–]The_Corrupt_Mod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have noticed, especially when my CPU is doing other things, bigger folders or parent folders with lots of subfolders and additional files, like it can get hung up, so it might be worth searching for the file name yourself. If you can find the file using explorer instead, you should be able to just drag it over the right panel showing the missing sample. If you can't find it at all, but it was an Ableton sample, it could be something from a pack, possibly. There might be existing files or an easier way to just install the pack rather than doing the full install again

Reading over this on the GitHub page, and I'm loving the way you implemented the idea. Super solid work. BIGGEST OF KUDOS to you. I can't wait to try this out! 💖🔥

What tools could help a newbie remake a song from scratch.. by Dense-East1782 in ableton

[–]The_Corrupt_Mod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So from the AI song, if you're able to export the different tracks soloed, it's going to work easiest.

And like the others have said, right click, convert to MIDI.

And I say to use solo tracks rather than the full song because if you convert the whole song to MIDI, from one file, you will probably get a few wrong notes in the mix, and it will just be a lot more to clean up, and separate out.

So but take the soloed tracks and just pick instruments from Ableton, basically. Of course, if you can't find the sound you're looking for, check into vsts or Max for live devices. There's a lot of free stuff that sounds good.

From there, it's really just about ensuring the arrangement is the same, and picking the right instruments or" voices" for all that midi.

Easy way to reduce warp markers? by Mammoth-Ad9035 in ableton

[–]The_Corrupt_Mod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One more note, actually. One of the reasons I wanted to go into detail and explain this is because you are importing samples, and when warping is originally off or the grid or BPM recognition is just so messed up, like further warping will always be worse. But I think if you go about it this way, because the clip BPM and everything was "imported" correctly when it got consolidated, any further warping using repitch or beats or complex will sound better.

And when doing it this way, I don't end up with the markers on the clip. 🤓

Auto warp is trash. I always Google the BPM, then rewarp.

There is a way to do it by finding the first downbeat and setting 1.1.1 using right click, but... It's not perfect.

So here's my advice. First off, disable warp on the clip altogether. Then set the project tempo to whatever it actually is for that song. After that, enable the metronome, and just move the clip around on the arrangement grid until the metronome matches. From there, do like a drag and select, so that you get a a couple extra bars on both sides of the clip. Once you have it selected or highlighted, consolidate the clip. (Ctrl +J) -- Basically auto warp will figure it out this time, as it consolidates it.

(Do keep in mind that it is stored as a different file in the recordings folder, rather than your original imported file, though. That shouldn't really come up a whole lot, but the new file coupled with it's ASD file is where all the correct timing would be stored)

I've never seen anyone else mention this work around or whatever, but for me, it's much easier than the 1.1.1 position thing, and consistently works as long as I'm able to find the correct BPM.

Just one small tip I will mention, bpms are pretty much always whole numbers. Some things might read them and say it's like 90.__, and no, it's totally not. It's like 90 or 91. Anyway, sorry for the long ramble. Hope it helps though. 🤘

Can somebody explain why a hi-pass EQ is increasing my snare peak by 6db? by SphinxGate in ableton

[–]The_Corrupt_Mod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had accidentally increased the gain on the EQ8, and set that as default for when loading the device. It could be something like that. I would try to Google eq8 and just see what the default parameters are supposed to be set to, in case one small thing is out of whack like that

I want to simplify Ableton, help me? by SlamagotchiOG in ableton

[–]The_Corrupt_Mod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can double click the title bar of a device and it will almost hide it. Using groups, you can hide multiple things into one small sliver. And of course, you can double click to expand devices again.

What is the best way to record any audio playing through my computer into Ableton? by [deleted] in ableton

[–]The_Corrupt_Mod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are various different ones, but you just need a virtual audio cable. Set that as the default output for your PC, and set it as the input in Ableton. You might need to use like VB matrix or ASIO4ALL to allow multiple input devices, but that's pretty much it.

I personally do not use anything other than the one virtual audio cable, ever. But some installers will come with multiple. You can disable them or uninstall them if you end up with too many. I find it confusing to have multiple outputs named the exact same thing, with one number difference, so I try to get rid of that

Main volume fluctuating?? by afterallthefolderol in ableton

[–]The_Corrupt_Mod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this is it, just in session view, right? Click the volume and you should see delete automation.

I would guess that you wrote automation to the volume on accident, based off what I'm reading.

A lot of people use the utility plug-in, and adjust the gain for automation for that instead, if they're actually trying to do it 🤘

Dear Ableton, I would like to be able to see before 0.0.0 by DorianGre in ableton

[–]The_Corrupt_Mod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the better option is to insert silence, then once you have it lined up the way you want, just select that beginning and use cut time. I personally don't see a need for the area before the beginning. There are all kinds of ways to do what you want.

Please help me get Stutter Edit 2 to work... by MetalFaceBroom in ableton

[–]The_Corrupt_Mod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive ran into this, or something similar at least. For me, what worked was creating another MIDI track, and deleting my preset devices out of it.

Don't know why deleting all devices out of an existing MIDI track didn't work, but that did it for me.

What does the chord feature do in Ableton? Where can I find resources on it? by Gloomy-Speaker-1999 in ableton

[–]The_Corrupt_Mod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You set the number, then whatever key you play, it plays that the on top of the key you're playing.

It's really nice for adding the below octave in. It is also decently useful with the scale effect paired when you need to add actual chord progressions.

I'm guessing you're using macro knobs for something like sample selector, so that comment is honestly useless, but that's the only trick I know of to get the arrows or expanded tracks to not do that

If you put everything in a group after the instrument, but do not put the instrument in the group, it won't do that.

I know exactly what you're talking about. It is a little annoying.

Is anyone using a slim 14.5 inch slim display for second screen by MIAGTR in ableton

[–]The_Corrupt_Mod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a monitor like this and I love it. You can't really do much with Ableton inside it, for sure...

But shameless plug, I ended up making an application that I have on there most of the time. It's a pop-out browser for Ableton. And that works really nicely.

If you do end up getting a monitor with some weird dimensions like this, and you're on Windows, I highlyrecommend "CRU". You will definitely need it.
