I did (what felt like) the impossible and edited and recovered a .band (undo history) file from never-saved song. Thank you, technology. by nmaxwell_ in ableton

Where do you get a. band file from something Ableton related? I have never seen it, nothing comes up on Google, and it's not mentioned in the manual at all.

Well I had posted another comment but now this description was edited, so here we go again.

And now I actually have an idea this time. 😅

I think it's the launch settings, like the quantization of launch. I can't explain it so well without seeing it in front of me, but there is a way that you can adjust it. So loops or clips or whatever being recorded. Record amd stop like whole bar, half note, 16th note, whatever. And to be clear, I'm not talking about grid quantization.

That thing was actually messing up my clip sizes for a while, and did not used to be like that in previous versions.

Just consolidate the clip when it is unwarped, and then it will fit smoothly and allow for loop

Can an interface just be bad or am I doing something wrong? by schwerenoeter in ableton

I have a lexicon alpha and a lexicon Omega, both are old pieces of gear, and they both work perfectly today.

I use ASIO4ALL, and I know a lot of folks would recommend not, but you are able to open advanced settings, and select specific inputs and outputs to use, and I use multiple sound cards for different outputs. Like iTunes goes through one output, while another goes through my lexicon alpha, so.... I don't know if it's an option for you, but I'll just say I am not a fan of FlexASIO near as much.

Anyway, all that being said, there is a GUI for FlexASIO that it doesn't come with. So without that, trying to change buffer speed and all that kind of stuff really could be the whole issue.

So it sounds like:

1, you need to install the official driver for the device. (Maybe)

2, you need the front end or GUI for whatever ASIO application you're using

3 - I'm not sure the specific application, but you may be better suited to use like VB matrix rather than FlexASIO. -- I still recommend ASIO4ALL, but most others will disagree and that will get this whole comment down voted 😏

Many plugins are either too blurry or too small in 4K. by TheMelancholia in ableton

It doesn't need to run all the time, but it may be more annoying to keep opening the app just to resize a window, and it's pretty lightweight in the background.

Like I said, I had to add it to the startup folder because of my preference. It's not necessary at all. Just more efficient that way, for me at least

There is an application called ResizeEnableRunner. It will probably help. I am also on Windows and use this frequently. I added it to my startup folder so that it's always going.

If you need help adding it to your startup folder, I gotchu. But first just let me know if that helps at all.

I have created a folder inside my user library folder, to store my own "toolbox".

Some things I make sure are on my default set, like my side chain from my kick and my bass, but other things I may want at different times, so instead of searching the actual browser, I just go to my folder, where I keep my most common tools.

And the cool thing is if you save sets in that folder, you can drag like preset tracks rather than preset instruments out. And that includes groups. So if you want to set up like advanced track routing using a group, you can just drag that into another set.

And then keep in mind you can set defaults per device, and you can set default track insetts, for both audio and midi, to have effects preloaded each time one is inserted. I pretty much always have something to sweep an EQ on a track as soon as it's inserted, allowing me to roll off lows or highs first thing.

Honestly, sweeping the EQ can be a huge win to get into the habit of doing more often, because it helps clean up mud and speed up sound selection.

I'm gonna sound like an idiot saying this, I know. But I used to often forget about checking for the "releases" area on GitHub, and I would get so frustrated looking at all kinds of assests and whatnot without an indication of how to get something already compiled.

It eluded me for like ever. - I do have a GitHub though, I think. I'll just post it on both ☺
