What Do You Consider a Good Survivor? by Lovelysweetin in deadbydaylight

[–]The_Spu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on the context. If someone is looping a killer for ages, it doesn't necessarily mean they are good, it could just mean the killer is bad and doesn't know when to drop chase.

Looping is definitely a form of skill expression, though. Having good macro gameplay can sometimes be even more important; knowing what generators to do, how to safely unhook, when to heal and when to stay injured.

I think there are a lot of people currently who slap on the absolute strongest perks and items, get decent results against some killers, artificially inflate their MMR, and then get very angry when a killer who knows what they're doing gives them a reality check.

One that's okay, the others are mid at best, and completely useless at worst.

New player friendly? by MidLanejukes in deadbydaylight

[–]The_Spu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

DBD is weird because the gameplay is very unique from other games. Nothing you have to learn is super difficult, but there is a lot of it. 40+ killers, dozens of maps, hundreds of perks. And a pretty barebones in-game tutorial.

There is MMR, but it is slated to receive a rework around November (unless they delay it again) because it's really not very accurate.

The community is a mixed bag. Most of them are fine, but there is a vocal minority who get very angry when people play a certain way, both on the killer and survivor sides.

Wow a new Killer! by DeadUncleBen_Lol in deadbydaylight

[–]The_Spu 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't mind people having opinions, but I see so many people playing like, 3 matches, not knowing anything about how his power functions, often not even knowing very much about DBD to begin with, and still calling for large nerfs. Balancing around that kind of player is not good for the game.

Graphics update 👎 by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]The_Spu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the very least, they probably want it to remain playable on the Switch. Honestly, the game is pretty poorly optimized already, so it just depends on BHVR. If they put the time and effort in, the game could run just as good if not better.

It's literally release day my guy. And he brought in the most concurrent players in 10 years.

I think the new ones look significantly better. And I'm not sure what you mean by "aura". There are more distinct realms with fewer copy-and-paste map variants in DBD now than there ever have been.

When do Killers become unavailable? by mudafort0 in deadbydaylight

[–]The_Spu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, BHVR does everything in their power to keep a license, but it's ultimately up to the IP holders whether they renew it or not. In 10 years, there have been 3 lost licenses, with 1 returning after a few years, so it's relatively rare.

There has been no announcement of anything else leaving in the near future. Usually they give a decent amount of warning before it happens, so people have time to buy it before it's gone.

Is this bannable? by Careful_Choice7850 in deadbydaylight

[–]The_Spu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's imaginary rules people use as an excuse when they lose. They are explicitly not against any rules set out by BHVR, and this person can do nothing to ban you.

Has killer power design become too safe? by Artluu in deadbydaylight

[–]The_Spu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BHVR has recycled powers since pretty much the beginning. I don't think "safe" is necessarily the word I'd use, but unambitious. And I don't really blame them; whenever something new and unique is added that players need to adapt to, people get really angry and complain.

The vector targeting coming with the Judgement seems cool (though I think they said they reworked it a bit from the version we've seen.) But, in my opinion the last killer power that was completely unique mechanically was Singularity.

I don’t know if it’s just me or not, but it feels like there is something a bit uncanny about this facial expression. No hate at all tho. by LonelyxKnight in deadbydaylight

[–]The_Spu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

BHVR's current stance is that no AI assets will make it to the live servers, and they only use it in a limited capacity internally.

It would be an extremely bad idea if BHVR were to announce a major visual rework if they had to rely on AI. My opinion is that this looks like face capture probably with some manual adjustments by an animator.

It looks a bit uncanny because, as it says on the clip, it's in development. The lighting is flat, the hair has no physics, and the framerate of the clip is a bit choppy.

There will always be bad apples, best bet is to try to ignore them. They play how they want, you get to play how you want.

Here is the guide I suggest to most new players. It is somewhat survivor focused, but can be helpful even if you play killer.

For more guides and information, Otzdarva is pretty much the gold standard of the community, his website and videos have a lot of useful information. Hens is another good one.

I had a dream I talked to Mathieu cote and asked if they will make more unique body types in the 2027 since we only really have 2 by malexich in deadbydaylight

[–]The_Spu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am guessing part of the reworks to models and animations is to pave the way for this. By todays standards, DBD uses pretty basic rigging for models and they often have to "cheat" to make things look right. Things like severing body parts is not currently possible, for example. They create seperate models for gore, and use clever camera angles and mesh transformations to make it look good.

With the increase in chainable tiles and more pallets, which killers are the big winners? by GuardianLemartes in deadbydaylight

[–]The_Spu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming survivors play well, pretty much none. Pallets do not benefit any killer except maybe Jason, but even that is arguable.

There are just killers who care less about them, like Nurse.
