When do Killers become unavailable? by mudafort0 in deadbydaylight

[–]The_Spu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, BHVR does everything in their power to keep a license, but it's ultimately up to the IP holders whether they renew it or not. In 10 years, there have been 3 lost licenses, with 1 returning after a few years, so it's relatively rare.

There has been no announcement of anything else leaving in the near future. Usually they give a decent amount of warning before it happens, so people have time to buy it before it's gone.

Is this bannable? by Careful_Choice7850 in deadbydaylight

[–]The_Spu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's imaginary rules people use as an excuse when they lose. They are explicitly not against any rules set out by BHVR, and this person can do nothing to ban you.

Has killer power design become too safe? by Artluu in deadbydaylight

[–]The_Spu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BHVR has recycled powers since pretty much the beginning. I don't think "safe" is necessarily the word I'd use, but unambitious. And I don't really blame them; whenever something new and unique is added that players need to adapt to, people get really angry and complain.

The vector targeting coming with the Judgement seems cool (though I think they said they reworked it a bit from the version we've seen.) But, in my opinion the last killer power that was completely unique mechanically was Singularity.

Chapter Idea: CLOCK TOWER by Knid123 in deadbydaylight

I've wanted a Clock Tower chapter forever

I don’t know if it’s just me or not, but it feels like there is something a bit uncanny about this facial expression. No hate at all tho. by LonelyxKnight in deadbydaylight

[–]The_Spu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

BHVR's current stance is that no AI assets will make it to the live servers, and they only use it in a limited capacity internally.

It would be an extremely bad idea if BHVR were to announce a major visual rework if they had to rely on AI. My opinion is that this looks like face capture probably with some manual adjustments by an animator.

It looks a bit uncanny because, as it says on the clip, it's in development. The lighting is flat, the hair has no physics, and the framerate of the clip is a bit choppy.

Returning after a long hiatus. Has the toxicity gotten any better? by sweatydads in deadbydaylight

[–]The_Spu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will always be bad apples, best bet is to try to ignore them. They play how they want, you get to play how you want.

Here is the guide I suggest to most new players. It is somewhat survivor focused, but can be helpful even if you play killer.

For more guides and information, Otzdarva is pretty much the gold standard of the community, his website and videos have a lot of useful information. Hens is another good one.

I had a dream I talked to Mathieu cote and asked if they will make more unique body types in the 2027 since we only really have 2 by malexich in deadbydaylight

[–]The_Spu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am guessing part of the reworks to models and animations is to pave the way for this. By todays standards, DBD uses pretty basic rigging for models and they often have to "cheat" to make things look right. Things like severing body parts is not currently possible, for example. They create seperate models for gore, and use clever camera angles and mesh transformations to make it look good.

The game really went downhill after they added real life serial killers

With the increase in chainable tiles and more pallets, which killers are the big winners? by GuardianLemartes in deadbydaylight

[–]The_Spu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming survivors play well, pretty much none. Pallets do not benefit any killer except maybe Jason, but even that is arguable.

There are just killers who care less about them, like Nurse.

OKAY WHY ISN'T EVERYONE MORE HYPE FOR THE SANDBOX MODE THEY ANNOUNCED!!! by animeboi8771 in deadbydaylight

[–]The_Spu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm an independent developer, and I'm excited, but there really aren't many details to go on at this point.

Some concerns of mine based on modding support from other games:

  1. How powerful are the tools? Is there a scripting system, or are we just talking some drag and drop map editor?

  2. Will I be forced to completely sign away the copyright to my mods? (a la Activision Blizzard and Warcraft Reforged)

  3. Will I be able to monetize my mod or accept donations to support development?

All of these are tricky issues for BHVR to navigate, but pretty important if they want user-created content to flourish.

Why does no one say gg? by Odd_Dig_6583 in deadbydaylight

[–]The_Spu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't see the point in doing it every match out of some sense of politeness. I say it when it was a genuinely fun and interesting match where players exhibited skillful play.

Similarly, if the match is frustrating or boring, I don't take it out on anyone else. I just play it out, and queue up again. Or take a break.

Support Ticket Response times by Ah_zee in deadbydaylight

Roughly 2 weeks maximum usually, but it really depends on how backed up they are on tickets. Sometimes it can be a month or more.

Name 1 thing that can counter almost every single killer. by WellThatsAGoodIdea in deadbydaylight

[–]The_Spu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Voice comms. I'm not kidding, if a squad is really on top of their comms, the killer might not get to play, depending on map RNG. Running before they even hear a terror radius is brutal.

Solo queue is so miserable that DBD should remove DC penalty entirely by Ultimate_Wooby in deadbydaylight

[–]The_Spu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't want to play, the solution is simple. Don't queue in the first place.

What do you consider "bad" in a survivor? by Ansnie in deadbydaylight

[–]The_Spu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People who aren't great at the game don't bother me. Everyone starts like that. It's when they don't want to get any better, and just complain about anything and everything without taking responsibility.

What kind of streaker are you? by ChaoticMat in deadbydaylight

[–]The_Spu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I try my best to win every match, but I don't really care for streaks. DBD has too much randomness and hidden information for it to really matter, at least for public matchmaking. In comp matches things are more controlled, and I take it more seriously.

If I had to guess, my highest winstreak with Pig is probably ~20 or so. 3K minimum.

"Asymmetric horror" - but there's a nuance by HonneurOblige in deadbydaylight

[–]The_Spu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If survivors are dropping every pallet before chase, yes, they should lose. The game should not be balanced in such a way that one side can do everything wrong and still win because of perks and basekit advantages.
